hi lately i have found myself getting more n more bored of eve online.
my toons arent skilled enough to enjoy pvp -- im just instapop -- training to get there is taking way too long im bored of mining stupid rocks and missions are too repetitive
anyone suggest some good games to try out that dont take months of constant skill training just to have a hope of killing anything other than a new born noob.

If you enjoy rts's a good and free alternative is shattered galaxy, it wont be a game you spend wakeless hours on but I keep going back to it every once and a while...
Another alternative is RYL online, its a grindfest but the pvp is insanely fun.
Lastly if you still want to fly around and pew pew I hear good things about darkfall.

PokTmon. Diamond just came out. You know you want to. And while you're buying a DS, make sure to pick up a copy of The World Ends With You, too.
Also, having a bilingual keyboard finally payed off. In before Ralara. |

I wouldn't bother with this one.
They've nerfed the skill system to the point where no matter what you've trained you can't make it pay off.
Most of the in-game currency is owned by a few small corps who have managed to completely dominate all areas of the in-game market. They are also in league with the devs and anyone that threatens their power base invariably ends up with their character being killed off and account closed.
Non-consensual PVP is everywhere and the in-game equivalent of Concord are absolutely useless at stopping the ganking. In fact I've heard players complaining that it is these guys who are doing most of the griefing in some areas.
You can't even use an existing account to twink your new alt as this breaks a number of the myriad rules in the EULA... which incidentally you don't even get to hear about until after you've contravened it... and if you thought it was tough to get a petition response in EVE, you've seen nothing yet.
It's also incredibly dull. If you're the kind of person that likes the mindless drugery of endless mining ops in EVE, it might float your boat, but to be honest, I tried a few of the in-game professions and couldn't get anywhere with it.
The AI is complete crap. Very few of the NPCs behave in anything even approaching a rational manner.
Most of the NPC agents I came across offered you crap money for pointless missions and frequently try and gimp you out of that anyway. No matter how hard you work for one of the corporations, someone else will breeze in and nick the loot, and the agents are even ruder to you than the ones in starter systems in EVE.
On top of this, there is a completely unconvincing background story that changes from region to region and depending on which of the super-corps is in charge this week.
I'd not bother if I were you.

Tried it, but that huge, poorly done lens flare effect on the sky huts my eyes. Besides, the mission "day job" is getting boring after 9 months of grinding.

If you like space games, try Sins Of A Solar Empire. There are a few good mods for it, too.
If you want a freeform game, try Fallout 3. Great graphics and superb atmosphere. The only problem with the game is that it does contain a limited version of SecureROM. Had I known about that beforehand, I wouldn't have bought it (as I have a principle issue thing going on against SecureROM).
And Jago Kain, keep up the good work. Your posts are almost always funny. By the way, is the name taken from an old 2000AD strip called Ace Garp?

Yea fallout was cool, but I found the ending just happened too suddenly. I got a sinking feeling at the end, rather than a feeling of elation (as I get with many other games I complete).
I always play Team Fortress when I'm bored with Eve. I'm especially in love with the backstab.

I agree, Sins is great. Another space game by the same people (Ironclad/Stardock) is Gal Civ II, which is like MOO 2.

Yes, I did indeed take the name from the 2000AD strip "Ace Trucking Co"... I wanted to be Ace Garp, but that had already been grabbed and I didn't fancy being Ace Garp1, 4ce G4rp or AceGarp 6789 or anything like that, firmly believing that numbers in your name are a sure sign of mental illness and a terminal lack of imagination (blatant borrowing of my char's name from elsewhere notwithstanding).
