Well, i'm in the middle of something huge right now, so i don't have much time to spare.
I've been thinking about this program, and well, it has all i wanted from it, and then some more.
The idea was to make a zero-config, easy to use and install, small memory footprint tiny app, just to set eve clients in the 'right' position, and thats done.
I'll keep an eye on this thread so if anybody has a problem with the app or just wants to propose some change, just say it. I'll see what i can do.

Edited by: Lao Xin on 07/07/2009 05:30:52 edit: disregard, didn't realize it executed into taskbar tray.. I was expecting a window or automatic move, and thought this program was broken when I didn't see those things.
Effective and useful program but I'd prefer to run one that I usually run anyway that does the same thing.

Awesome app, I'm a huge fan of lightweight tray apps xD
Replaced ShiftWindow for me.
What language did you use to write it, if I may ask?

Plain C++ with a spice of WTL for the windowing stuff. Quite simple if you ask me.

This utility is useless to me. I'm still waiting for one that will allow me to have a number of predefined Eve window positions. As it is now I have to use the titlebar right-click menu and Move and count off major and minor offsets to get the windows precisely cascaded like I want them. On monitor 2 I position three of them to screen edges and the other two by eye.
Someone once had a utility for predefined Eve window positions, but stupidly it only provided for four. I need nine, so that utility was useless, too.

You just complained that an application doesn't do something that it wasn't designed to do...

Version 1.4.0 released.
Adds 'Client Switcher' utility for fast client switching, its a small button window that is always on top and looks very much like the rest of the eve ui, it updates itself automatically and sets the names on the buttons to the logged client character name.

Edited by: Eraggan Sadarr on 14/10/2009 19:56:04 Fantastic size on this tool :)
I would really wish for the following functionality:
Autostart with windows, just sitting in the tray. No balloon tips or anything. (This i can achieve with your app as it is)
But then i'd really like the tool to detect the different eve clients and move them to the monitor of my choosing (This should only be set once)
Last but not least i'd really like if the each client could be set to either fullscreen (as in remove borders and place top left) or just move to the specified monitor (this should also only be set once).
The reason for this is: I like to play with a windowed fullscreen client on primary monitor for my main and smaller windowed client for my alt on secondary monitor. And it would be cool if i could just start the two clients and the theyd jump to their right position on their respective screens.
Hope you would consider my suggestions. Keep up the god work :)

Hmm doesn't work for my purposes. I would need it to detect when the clients (notice the plural) start, and then move each to the designated monitor, and/or move and remove borders.
Good luck with the tool.

Edited by: el toppolino on 28/10/2009 10:46:11 great programm pharago. i do have some problems though (some maybe related to the guy in front of the screen):
- when having the taskbar on the 2nd (not primary screen) the taskbar symbol is not useable.it flashes up for a milisecond and its gone again.
- the name of the client in the tiny window is named client01 2nd client client02 and so on. closing existing clients and opening them again leads to the name client03 client 04 and so on.
is this normal ? thx for the help and the nice programm
michael

Sorry, I dont understand what do you mean by 'task symbol', but, if you mean the option 'Show taskbar' from the client switcher menu, then take a look at the windows taskbar configuration and check if the option to automatically hide it is activated, that might be it.
About the naming of the buttons, yes, its made on purpose, as long as the program is running, each time you open a new client it will be given a number that comes from a counter.
The client switcher is made to use your logged character name, go to the eve configuration window and in the general tab, there is an option called 'Show window identification', activate it and the buttons will be able to pick up the name of the character logged in that instance of EVE.
Hope that helps, regards.

A feature worth investigating is "CPU Affinity".
Thus a user could set which CPU core their clients are attached to.
If "AFK" having clients all on another core with a free core for web browsing and work. If "PvP" having clients spread among cores can be better.

thx for the client-name-tip.
and here the takbar problem: the windows tasbar on the bottom on a 2 monitor-setup is either on the left or right monitor. if the taskbar is positioned on the 2nd monitor (each monitor in windows is either set to primary or secondary monitor) the taskbar symbol next to the clock is not working correctly. when right clicking the icon the right-click-menue is shown on the PRIMARY screen in the lower right corner and only for a second and closes again automatically. it cant be used. if i move the windows taskbar to the primary monitor the taskbar symbol and the right-click-menue works perfectly.
i hope that helps. thx michael Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie ([email protected]) Fury Website |

You mean the tray icon, that has to be among the weirdest things this program has done. I'll try to fix it once i've got a bit of free time again.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you very much for the feedback.

as you dont need the symbol every day its not much of a problem. the main feature(s) work perfect, the design is cool and the size of the prog. is just like i love it (and no registry keys and ****).

The only thing it lacks now is the auto-location of windows. Do you think you'll be able to do it for future releases? Otherwise excellent app.
