Hey, I've been reading some of the threads that have been coming up concerning stealth bombers and their new changes.
(Torps instead of cruises, Being able to use the Covert Ops cloak, ect...)
But Can't find anything official anywhere on the site, could someone link me to something regarding the official changes to stealth bombers?
Or are people just posting what they are seeing on the test server?
Thanks

Please bear in mind that I'm a total carebear at the moment and I can, and will, use PvP ships for PvE. I've successfully run a Curse in a trial L4 mission and will eventually get around to taking it through more.
From that perspective I just have to say...
Small gang missions are gonna get a whole lot more interesting.
Send in a drake to tankle and then 3-4 friends in stealth bombers to blow the **** out of whatever shows up since javelin torpedoes can easily hit out to 50-55km on a stealth bomber.
Also, here's a look at the damages from a level 1 mission I used for a testing ground.
Your Bane Torpedo hits Centii Minion, doing 23.3 damage. Your Bane Rage Torpedo hits Centii Minion, doing 18.3 damage. Your Bane Javelin Torpedo hits Centii Minion, doing 21.0 damage.
Now admittedly explosive missiles aren't the right sort for Sansha rats but I only had standard and javelin mjollnir missiles.
Your Mjolnir Torpedo hits Centii Minion, doing 33.4 damage.
Please bear in mind that my character only has the missile support skills to L4 at best and only has Covert Ops piloting at level 4 as well so these do not represent maximum numbers.
I get 31.3km with rage, 35.3km with standard, and a hair under 53km with javelin torpedoes. This is along with a nearly threefold increase in explosion velocity over the base value (base is around 70m/s, mine is 170.8 for bane, 198.8 for standard and javelin) and the (up to) 75% damage bonus.
A stealth bomber won't be the equivalent of a raven in terms of rDPS but it might be a lot closer to a raven in eDPS and even with my low skills I can out-range a raven with maximum skills using javelin ammo with no rigs. For that matter a pilot with max skills could outrange a raven using a T2 hydraulic bay thruster.
Any rate, I think I'll be looking forward to getting another stealth bomber for PvE because these changes look to make it a whole lot more interesting for it. ____________________

Add the size column to your overview, it shows you their sig. If their smaller than your explosion radius they'll take less damage, it's a ratio of their speed+sig rad. normal torps = 450, Rage = 650, BS spawns = 700, but they still get reductions from their speed. -------------------------- NOTR B A N A N A S |

Hi there.
I saw the topic on Stealth Bombers and figured I would ask a question I've been wanting to know the answer to for a while.
Sorry if this deviates off the intended topic of the OP.
I was told that although the Stealth Bombers can fit and use the Covert Ops cloaking devices, they can't warp while cloaked, like other Covert Ops Cloak-fittable ships can.
Is this the case, or was I misinformed?
Thanks.

You are misinformed, the whole point of the Cov-Ops cloak is to be able to warp cloaked.
They just can't recloak for 30 seconds after having been uncloaked. Plus, if there are things that you don't like about Eve, click HERE because it will help. |

so now we have basically ratting ravens which can warp cloaked and rat wherever they want with zero threat from anyone.

Only if they fit ECM to prevent any rat target locks on them so they can cloak as and when they want. When ratting, the ability to warp cloaked matters less than not being there when the pirates arrive at your belt. I'd much rather rat with a Raven which can't warp cloaked, than half a Raven which can.

Don't be silly. For one thing, BS rats can instapop a stealth bomber on a lucky hit, so stealth bombers won't be much good for ratting. For another, the fact that the rats have you locked will prevent you from cloaking when the pirates show up. A covops cloak will be a waste of money for PvE.
