I was comparing various battleships today looking to see if perhaps some of the other race's would fit my fighting styles a bit better, and I noticed that the Gallente Dominix has 8 high slots, but only 6 turret hard points and no missle hard points. I noticed a post on here about some of the "utility" slots, but it didn't seem to really help at all in what I'm curious about. Namely, what can I put in the way of combat oriented equipment in one of these slots that would make up for a lack of weaponry in those slots. Personally, at this point I only know of turrets, missle launchers, and mining lasers that go in those slots.
Also, I got the opinion from some of the posts I've read, that heavy turrets can have a hard time sometimes hitting high quality frigates, if this is the case, then would the use of combat drones help to counter this possible weakness? I've narrowed it down to aiming either for a Typhoon or the before said Dominix, as I would prefer to have a good balance of high damage power and various electronic equipment, as well as making sure to do whatever I can to cover any possible weaknesses.
In case it matters, PvP is the overall goal. I for one, while I understand the speed of which money can be made while mining, cannot stand the constant repetition and sheer boredom of it. I figure if I do decide to aim for a non-minmatar ships, while still possible, it would be quite the long-term thing that I would need to start on a.s.a.p.

Fit the biggest and best Nosferatu you can find. Put it on autorepeat and drain your opponent's cap and use it to help keep yours charged.
I use a small one on my Taranis.. I can orbit with neutron blasters and web all day long without worrying about cap, as long as I am stealing their cap with the nosferatu.

Edited by: Notrealcharacter on 24/08/2004 03:52:00 Hmm... your right, Cruz, I wonder where I misread that part... well I guess that solves which ship to use. Still need to know about the effectiveness of combat drones vs smaller frigates and interceptors though.
(*grumbling* How freaking long does it take to delete a character anyways?)

can also fit smartbombs and such in there, handy for taking out pesky drones and missiles (if you're not loaded with defenders)

On the utility slots.... First off, mining lasers use turret hardpoints (just making sure you understand that as you listed them seperately). Currently, high slot modules that do not use missile bays or turret hardpoints are: nosferatus, energy neutralizers, smartbombs, and cloaking devices. |
