if a pilot/ship has a targetting range of 100km and I am at 100km and he has a lock on me. If I hit him with sensor damps after he already has a lock, does he loose lock if his targetting range has been damped down to 80km?
thought i read somewhere that damps wont break locks if your already targetted but am not sure.
thnx....Z

I suppose that referred to scan resolution dampening scripts - they won't help you to break the lock. Dampening the targeting range does.

... if you dampen his targeting range enough that you will be sitting outside of his reduced range.
E.g. If you are sitting at 100km away from him and he can lock you up to 175km, then dampning his range from 175km to 110km is still going to mean he has you locked. You'd have to fly another 10km away from him to break it. -------------------------------------------------- "Every complex problem has a solution which is easy, neat and wrong!" |

I have one more question relating this topic: If I want to use dampeners to buy me time to get out (on a Iterion V by example) do I need to lock my offender as well? Example: I have a locking range of say 50 km (just an example, nothing behind those numbers) and I get locked from 100km away, can I just hit my sensor dampeners and wait till they kick in, or do I have to wait till I'm close enough to start locking my attacker, and after I have a lock can start my dampeners. If this is the case, dampeners are no good defensive option for industrials.
Thanks!

You need to lock him to be able to damp him
