I know it allows operation of shield hardeners. its the bonus i dont get. is it a 5% chance per lv. that:
A) if you have 1hp of shield left that all damage delt that hit will be absorbed by that 1hp (with no carry over)
or
B) that it reduced all damage your shields take by 5% per level BEFORE shield resistence is applied.
or
C) something else?

I think the correct answer is (C): Something Else.
Aside from allowing you to use hardeners, I believe that Tactical Shield Manipulation has something to do with allowing damage to your shields to "bleed" to your armor. I remember hearing the explanation once (it was along those lines), and the general consensus was that it wasn't worth training the skill beyond level 1.

the answert is definately C, took me a long time to find this one out....
When a defence (armour or sheild) gets to 25%hp, it starts to leak through, from sheild to armour, from armour to structure. This skill reduces this, for sheilds, by 5% per level, so getting it up, allows you to run a sheild tank "closer to the wall", so to say.
Not an utterly useless skill, if you rely on your sheilds, and take a beating, your more likely to get away without armour damage. -----------

Take an alt without this skill and get someone to fire a cruise missle at you. You will take shield damage, this damage will leak to your armor damaging it also. Train the skill to lvl1 and the damage does not leak to to the armor.

You also need level 4 to train the Shield Compensation skills. There are 4 of them listed on eve-i, and if they make it into eve as they currenly are, they will give an extra 5% resist to a damage type per level. --------------------------------------------- Engineers motto; If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks it needed replacing anyway. |
