Question. Just got back into EVE after 2 years off. Saw the Incursion warning pop when I undocked and was curious. Didn't know where the big battle was but thought the bad guys might troll asteroid belts like the regular rats do. So i went to the local asteroid belts. Found sansha ships and fought them. Had a heck of a time with their ECM-EW but managed to kill 10 of their frigates. Not one piece of loot. Only 2 were salvagable. And not one bit of bounty. I am not even sure my security standing changed any. So , the question is, does fighting them locally like that make any difference to the overall incursion defense or am I wasting my time? Because I didn't see anything to make it worth the time and cost of the ammo. I am not sure what the point is. If you are only rewarded for the big battles, then why are there sansha in the asteroid belts ? Why aren't they all in the big battle ? I am new to the incursion and other game changes that were added while i was away. Please educate me on this ? |

Consider the RP side: enemy forces are invading, why would they stay away from the unprotected belts?
Or consider it an incentive to remove the incursion so the miners can get back to mining. It makes the incursions have an actual effect on the activities you can do in that system. |

You only get rewarded by paricipating in the big battles. Don't know if you contribute in removing them from the area by shooting belt rats, but I doubt it.
So I would venture a guess and say: Yes you are wasting time and bullets. The Sansha are in the belts because they have invaded the system. They are in the belts aswell as the big battles because they are everywhere.
Someone more experienced in incursion battles could probably explain it better to you. This is just my understanding of it. |

The Sansha forces "jamming" Concord is the RP explanation for lack of any feedback (bounties, standings, etc) to killing their stuff, lack of response of gate guns to Sansha presence, etc. However, I suspect this "jamming" is not of a technological nature, and more of a "buying tickets to the police ball" nature, as Concord still responds just fine to illegal capsuleer aggression, and Concord ships do not fire upon Sansha ones, even when in the same location. Also you can probably solo the Scout sites in a good cruiser or BC if you want to contribute solo. Doesn't really pay out that much though, more the novelty value of fighting tough rats outside of a wormhole. |
