With today's patch all 8-9 grav sites in my class 3 w-system has been merged into one large grav site.
To my surprise among the very large roids I found Mercoxit. "Only" 10,000 or so but that's still worth quite a lot. Along with that I found 30-40k or more Arkonor, Bistot and Crokite not to mention lots of low/high sec ore.
Is this a bug or is it intended? If grav sites still respawn every three days or so like before (which I doubt though) mining in w-space could very well be quite profitable.

I'm pretty sure that's intended, mercoxit already existed in W-Space grav sites since Apocrypha's release.
And it's not really profitable to mine it at all. You'll need at least a medium POS for a decent refinery, so that's at least 75 million a month you're spending. Then the refinery also takes 25% off everything you refine due to being stupidly inefficient. Now add the logistics of moving minerals/fuel back and forth through unpredictable wormholes to keep the operation running.
You get exactly the same ores in player-controlled 0.0, with 100% yield, an outpost right next to you, and a much higher level of safety. If your goal is profit then there's no reason to do it in W-space over 0.0, unless for some reason you refuse to join a 0.0 alliance.

Considering that by cubic meter value alone, Mercoxit is LESS valuable than Arkonor, and just about on par with Bistot... then considering that Mercoxit yield in cubic meters is usually LOWER than yield in regular ore... and considering you pretty much HAVE to refine at a 25% loss... it's not profitable at all to mine compared to Arkonor or Bistot in 0.0 alliance-controlled space. That last part you completely forgot about. _ The problem with EVE || Fit a ship || Get some ISK |

It's not, as it's been exactly shown above. You can pretty much put an ISK/hour pricetag on it.

Souls do not exist, so of course you can't put a pricetag on it.

It's not absolutely necessary to take the 25% hit, as the ore can be compressed with a rorq and hauled out to a station. There is no getting around the expense of the pos though.
Still, Akita's point concerning the value/volume of the mercoxit vs ark and bis is valid.
