Very quick one really..
I'm a complete noob to PvP'ing but I know enough that you need an expanded probe launcher to scan down ships, but I'm having real difficulties fitting the 210 CPU (Sisters) into setups without comprimising elsewhere.
Is it simply the case that I'll have to work around having the probe launcher fitted and suffer gank or tank in the fit, or is there some trick I'm not getting? Surely everyone who does solo PvP doesn't dual-box do they?
I came up with this but I'm a good 70 CPU over budget :
[Curse, Curse WH/Solo] Damage Control II Capacitor Power Relay II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Large Shield Extender II Invulnerability Field II Balmer Series Targeting Inhibitor I Balmer Series Targeting Inhibitor I Republic Fleet Warp Disruptor Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive
50W Infectious Power System Malfunction 50W Infectious Power System Malfunction 50W Infectious Power System Malfunction E50 Prototype Energy Vampire Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, Combat Scanner Probe I
Egress Port Maximizer I Egress Port Maximizer I
Hammerhead II x5 Hobgoblin II x5 Vespa EC-600 x5 Warrior II x5
..and yeah I know that PvP'ing in a Curse for a first-timer probably isn't the best idea, but I just love the idea & concept of it. At the very least I'll be a lol-worthy KM for someone to begin with.

Edited by: Actumarius on 17/04/2009 21:49:27 Have something else offline while scanning, then offline the scan probe and put other item back on when scanned?
EDIT : Actually, tehy are gonna see u coiming a muile off in curse. Maybe try pilgrim? (cloak ftw)

you can solo without scanning down targets, oppurtunity kills, finding targets at belts etc are an ok way to do it. on that note a core probe and finding the plexes also could work if you ambush a plex runner.

the combat probe launcher is unnecessary, the curse is also unnecessary. wormhole were made for covertops ships. fly a pilgrim. use core probe launcher to find the sites they are in with the help of directional scanner, 90% of the time you ill never need to launch probes(stealthy onboard ship scanner for anomalies 4tw), drop the MWD and put on an AB for aditional speed tank, you wont need the MWD because you will be able to position yourself and dictate range with the covops cloak, switch disrupt for scram.
there, you have the ultimate WH win device

In a fight, one man pulls a knife 1km away. The other guy pulls out a pistol and kills the knife user. Sure that knife is probably very useful - but it sure dont help you at range. Probe launchers are the same way. If you are using a high slot for it, you are more versatile but you are also a bit weaker in pvp as well.
In a gang or fleet operation - it is very useful, though. However, I would avoid 1 vs 1 unless you have a clear advantage.

problem with probe launchers is that one module put offline will (almost) never be enough. while OP needs 70 CPU, that is at least two modules to be put offline (taking into account average cpu your t2 pvp modules need). together with capacitor being wasted when putting any module online plus prerequisite of 95% capacitor before attempting to online module looks like no way to switch prober fast.

CCP expect you to buy multiple accounts, otherwise you would be able to train your 3 alts simultaneously. ---------------- "You lost your eye to a seagull dropping?," "Well," said the pirate, "it was my first day with my hook"

Hit a man sized target at 100 m with a pistol and you're really good. Hit it at 1 km and it's magic

that sisters launcher isn't needed and you well lose it. (i don't use scan probes, look through belts) you can scan down mission runners or safe spots with a cov-op and come back in a pvp ship so you only really need scan probes in WH. shield tank!! bad, bad noobie curse is meant to take on gun ships fit armor tank or speed (not as good post nanno nerf) and get turret disruptor(with tracking speed script).
and curse clears local, pilgrim gets kills.
