I have tested on Sisi and Tranquility how 2 ships with Covert Ops Cloaking Device II's now uncloak each other if they get within 2000m of each other. This didn't happen before the latest patch. I have bug reported it but the reply came back saying this was intended game feature and not a bug.
Really? Have I missed something in the patch notes about this or just not been keeping up with this forum (quite likely)? This makes it difficult to warp gangs of cloaked ships about stealthily as they uncloak each other when warping or if using the same Bookmarks. I just wanted to check I hadn't received a canned bug hunter reply.
FYI - the test is simple. I used a Stealth Bomber (a) and a CovOps (b) frig both fitted with a COCD II. Both were stationary and 20km apart. I hit approach on ship a and hit cloak on ship b. As soon as I lose ship b from overview on ship a I hit the speed bar to keep speed up and ship on line and then engage ship a's cloak. A few seconds later, both ships decloak when next to each other.

YEs and this change made the Warp cloak capability of the new stealth bomber COMPLETELY USELESS. Always the gang members uncloak each other near end of warp.
Just leave the cloak at home since now its useless...

I thought this was normal (happened pre resent patch) tbh.
Even if it wasn't it should work like that, seeing as they get DD'ed the idea is that they are 'real' space and so should get de-cloaked by each other / other objects in space.
Furthermore by continuing this discussion we detract from the real issue many of us are having with eve online, the lack of break between signature and post content. |

I have just seen the Dev reply in THIS REPLY which says this is being fixed. Good old bug hunters.....

We are looking into fixing this so cloaked ships will not decloak other cloaked ships as the whole point of the covert ops cloak was to allow the element of surprise and this is not possible when in a gang with other cloaked ships or some alternative solution to better allow for this without spoiling the surprise factor.

umm... cloaked ships have always decloaked eachother. I have been gang warped in my arazu with a falcon (just the 2 of us) both cloaked, and half way through warp we'd decloak eacother. Quite bothersome, but logical.
I read the forums assuming there are no trolls, only really stupid people.

No. That is not entirely correct.
Ships that can fit the COCD II (i.e. ReCon's, CovOp's) and is in the same gang, would not decloak each other earlier. However, the same two ships would hinder each other from cloaking up if they were too close (within 2000m).
I have been in a lot of ReCon gangs, and this has never been a problem before. So the situation you are referring to must have some other sort of explanation.

That was a bug. They fixed it. There are many other situations where you would not properly decloak when within 2000m of something.
But apparently they are considering "unfixing" it for Covert Ops now, which is cool.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |
