This is probably a noobÆish question but hopefully not just dumb. IÆm curious how folks running three strip miners keep track of which laser is on which æroid? IÆm currently driving a Retriever while watching the days tick down until I can switch to a Hulk. I do okay keeping two lasers sorted, but I have a feeling that three will be quite a bit more challenging.
I have found no way in the UI to tag which laser is which on the icon that appears by the locked target icon. With my trusty survey scanner running I can tell how much is left on each æroid and IÆve been doing my best to avoid having the laser run through a full three minute cycle on a æroid that hasnÆt got that much ore in it (yes, IÆm being greedyà). On the laser ôbuttonsö I can tell what part of a cycle each laser is on. Is there a way to get those bits of information to link together better than ôjust rememberingö which is which? Am I hoping for too much, or have I missed something? Thanks!

yeah its another lacking on EVE's UI
I usually try to get them in a logical sequence, this is like F3 is the roid targeted at right side, F2 is the second targeted roid, and F1 is the latest (which appears at left side)
I remember the big problems on the Retriever as its capacitor sucks. Hulk is way better in this.

Edited by: Dennmoth Ferdier on 21/04/2009 18:04:03 clicking on your survey scan list the roid that's close to popping highlights on your target list the correct roid, you can click the icon next to the roid to prematurely end the cycle on that rock.
Though indeed, you cannot tell apart which strip it is that's showing it's advancement on your button bar, you will still end the correct one. Now it's only half the problem anymore, since if it's a strip that has not yet mined enough of the roid to pop it, you can just re-enable it. ------ Dare to challenge me? |

I like to keep each laser on a different ore. That way the crystal matches the icon. Of course this means I believe in stripping entire belts rather then cherry picking a specific ore. It's not for everyone.

You can have 6 active targets on a Hulk. This covers 3 active strips, and the next 3 targets.
Choose the next 3 targets to be from left to right (or right to left if you prefer), and you will never get confused.
Practice on your Retriever, as it supports 4 targets and has 2 strips.

This is what I do, I never have trouble that way. |

I just go down the list of ore in my scanner, when you start everything is in sequence, so it dosn't matter much.
Once things get out of sequence I re-scan the ore everytime a stripper completes a cycle, the roid that decreases in quantity is the one that stripper is on.

mine bigger roids.... I put all 3 on the same roid till it gets close then slowly cycle them off and back on to the next big roid....large enough ones will take several full cycles of all 3 strips on same roid. use scanner to track as roid goes down. |

I always just try to mine three roids at a time that have approx the same amount of ore wherever possible. That way, they all pop at roughly the same time and it doesn't matter which laser is on which roid. |

Use the 'tagging' system on bigger roids (the ones you keep your miners on for 3 or more cycles) number them 1-3 or 1-6 if you like. Add the tag collum to your overview and allways set 1st laser on 1/4, 2nd on 2/5 and 3rd on 3/6. If a roid gets low use the scanner window to target it and the tag in the overview tells you which laser is locked onto the roid. -------------------

I use Eve Miner Timer it is PRECISELY what I want as a miner.
You can put in the value of the ore, start the ore timer, start your strip miner and it will tell you when you the strip cycle is finished and will tell you when a roid is about to pop, meaning that you don't waste cycle time and can mine more efficiently.

eve ore chart + survey scanner + in-game cycle timer = miner timer? _________________ - "Welcome to EVE, remember to insu *BAAOOM*... Told you, newb."
