They used to look so cool with lightning and stuff, now they have some sort of crappy Concentric Circle effect.
What the hell?

I tried to raise this issue on the CSM. But the other CSM members didn't see it as a problem.

Because people complained they got headache from the lightening. So they changed it. Now people complain they get a headache from the effect. Guess they'll change it. Then people will complain they get a headache from the effect Then they might change it. Then people complain... ...etc... ...

Not that this effects me, but couldn't they make the bubble as stable as possible when nothing is happening, to minimize any headache and eye strain. Then add the fancy effects, when people interact with the forcefield. Like when someone passes through it or shoots at it. So even if the effects are a must for some reason, seems like there are ways to minimize the negative effects.

Exactly.
The 2 new forcefield effects are FUNDAMENTALLY different from the old one, because it's one big fancy effect, which is quite "aggressive".

I didn't mind the POS bubbles. They look like.. shields.
I'm not so very happy with high sec office counts being capped. I have 5 years of assets in a base that I can't get an Office at because I had to bail for 2 months and lost my office there. It's very annoying to say the least. |

i like the new effect ok but i don't like that it lags my framerate.
also, i don't like that the forcefield is oval at warp in. --

As a member of a corp with umm lots of pos's to service I can honestly say this new effect is utterly awful.

The slightly older way (new rev.1) I thought was much more mesmerizing. It would be kind of cool if they patched in the ability within the POS management screen to switch between that style and the current one. I can live with either, but kind of like both for different reasons.

Have you ever worked with a POS before? Unless it's being attacked, there's really a void of activity that 'staring at the freakin bubble' fits nicely into.

Actually the pos bubble effect is greatly reduced when you are inside the bubble so not really sure what people are complaining about. I can barely make out the effect on the inside. |

really? i see it from inside or out. the rasterized look isn't there all the time. it kind of starts at the bottom, cycles up and then disappears to something similar to the last effect, but with less intensity.

Well from the inside I do see the raster effect but its only periodic and hardly the epilepsy inducing horror people seem to be making it out as. |

It was changed because it was the same effect that warp disruptor bubbles had... as such, fighting on a POS was very hard with all the similar overlap. It was damn near impossible to tell what was otuside, what was in, and where to place bubbles.

Edited by: Mskpath3 on 21/04/2009 23:43:21 Although I preferred the old-old effect, I like the ribbed one better than the van de graff generator thing they had going on for a while. The lightning bolts just looked cheap. I don't want a blinged-out tacky pos.

I liked the original and years-old effect best.
The new effect introduced with Apocrypha 1.0 I really hated. The current effect with apo 1.1 is an improvement, but still the first, age-old effect was best. I have no idea why they changed it at all.
