I would enjoy an Alliance Tournament style System.
While current aggression mechanic allow you to hold a tournament with some difficulty in setting it up and it is harder for fleet aggression mechanics. What is worse is there is little effective advertisement for it. For most people even when they do find a tourney of sorts being held it is usually Saturday at X Time and not casual log in and play. War Decs aren't good for a single fight because they drag the whole corp into aggression mechanics for a week.
Red Vs Blue has been immensely popular but you need an alt or say goodbye to any corp you were in previously to join. Joining a regular PvP Corp means you often need an alt to pay for it or wait for Nullsec CTF's. Nothing is really on your schedule but relies on a group of people wanting to do the same thing as you at the same time. If your group of friends is small that could be an issue.
A Tournament style Mission System where you bring a team to a hub to compete would be pretty cool. Register in a 50-100-200 Point Game then wait for someone to except and get gate keys. Like your own mini AT thing.
Basically you have a system with an Incursion Type Channel to pick up fleets.
* An agent who gives you a Mission with a cost of say 5 Mil for 50 Points, 10 Mill for 100 Points, 20mil for 200 points. * LP Reward for the winner. * No insurance payout for the loser. * You have to use 95% of the points on ships. * All LP Reward Shop Items have an ISK Cost.
That would make it a complete ISK Sink with the only ISK to be earned gained from shuffling around ISK from other players.
It would be immensely popular, stem high sec burnout, be a mineral sink and an ISK Sink if it has cost to enter and a lot of folks would just plain enjoy it. That is the bottom line of it.
Yes I saw the virtual Tourney Thread but I don't like that idea but I do like this one so I made my own post.
You see there is this post button below me, right down there. I can see it and if I press it people are going to hate me. I am not sure if I should press it. I really do want something like this in the game but a bunch of people who won't use it are going to yell at me if I suggest it... If you are reading this then I probably pressed it.... Gulp |

*sigh* there's already a bad thread asking for arenas on the first page of this forum, do we really need another one?
And, yes, it is effectively the same thing and all the same counter-arguments apply. |

I think the benefits you such a system out way the costs to the game by a very, very large margin.
No one is quitting over Alliance Tournament Style combat in game but a lot of board casuals will stay. It could be a massive ISK and Mineral Sink made by the same players that PvE all day. It allows PvP to be had by people in Corporations that don't PvP without making you give up your friends and allows your circle of contacts to grow. A lot of people would find it fun if RvB is any indication. Fun is good.
Overall positive effects for the universe and CCP. |

Set it up yourself. Use a wormhole, a lowsec pocket or even somewhere in null if you don't want to deal with the highsec aggression shenanigans. |

A system that allows people who want to do this to group up helps take the scheduling part out of it. Cuts through the long and boring right to the fun part.
The main point is that it is for casuals and since 70% of EVE does live in highsec good bet a lot of them are casual. We have enough people logging in to train skills and just as many letting there subs expire. A bone to them means more money in CCP's pocket and more fun for the people that use it. All this for little work setting it up. |

So, set it up. A website with a matchmaking system. Or even just an in game channel. Try running it yourself before you beg CCP to do it for you. |

< Casual Player.
What is more the bigger point even if I did set it up I could not run it 24/7. A mechanic could do so. A lot of complication to set something up is just plain silly. Especially when a mechanic in game would be 100x the advertisement and never stop running.
It would be popular, have good effects on the economy and be fun. I think that is worth begging for.
This isn't for you but all the people who would use it. |
