hi i;ve been mining down around rens as theres alot of good ore there but want to move up to caldari space as ore prices r better. Any tips on a somewhat busy mining system with alot of belts and the more highend highsec ores f.eks Pyroxeres, Omber, Plagioclase
Since its kill a hulk mouth or week im thinking safety in numbers and am looking for a busyish system so i can team up with others for protection
thx for any help.
P.S plz don't troll this post. thx |

I've had good luck just mining in some 0.9 system. Pretty safe, even thought there was no one there. Just watch out for destroyers and stay aligned when possible.
I won't link which system that is though, that's just asking to get ganked. But finding a 0.9 system is easy.
And as a tip, don't bother with anything else than Pyrox and Veld. Plagi and Omber are worth less than those 2.
PS: More people in the belt just makes it harder to notice a ganker warping in. |

more miners means more reason for the gankers to come too.

Why don't more solo or small gang people try mining low and null sec grav sites in dead end systems with little traffic. Are they just not worth the effort of having to mine non afk? The last one I was in was a large Arknor site. How much isk per hour are we talking here to mine it?
Is it better to make isk otherways and just continue to buy ore off the market unless you are afk mining or doing so large scale with multiple alts? |

You are better off finding a less-used system for several reasons.
1. Fewer miners means fewer gankers. 2. Less popular belts means more high-density asteroids. The popular belts tend to get stripped of their Dens/Massive quality astroids quickly, leaving only the low density stuff with maybe a splash of the medium. 3. If you find a sufficiently dead system, you might even get away with jet can mining (if you are a solo miner).
You did make a good move in leaving the Rens area for mining. I use to live down there but moved up to the Amarr region when I learned how much more valueable Pyrox is compared to Plag. And Kernite is strictly superior to LOLOmber. (Actually, ALL asteroids are strictly superior to LOLOmber). I don't make minerals. I just make ore 20% cooler. |

Normally I would encourage you to do that, but I'm feeling generous today so I'm going to tell you that it's an extremely poor idea.
If you insist on mining during Hulkageddon, go find the emptiest, least trafficked, deadend system you can find - preferably on a high-sec island. If it has a good grav site you can mine in, even better. |

agree with all of this and : I have mined in Metropolis (just like Heimatar, pretty much) most of my mining career, In around 6-9 months of playtime in Metropolis I had not a single ganking attempt. I decided to mine closer to Jita because of the better prices. In Lonetrek and Genesis I was attempted to be ganked twice, with one successful attempt -IN THE FIRST WEEKEND.
All in all, I think it is far more worth your while to mine in the quietest system you can find and train freighters to haul. |

Probably becouse that ore/minerals need to be moved to highsec later and thats risky. Industrials are not excatly strong... |

Ok I just started mining because hey it's in EVE and I've never done it before. I'm mining in 0.1 and null sec grav sites mainly for Bistot and Genesis but also dark ochre. I'm totally new to this and I just thought I'd try it out and see what the isk is like because of rising mineral costs. I'm only using a mining cruiser because I have really bad mining skills.
I'm jet can mining and I've just realized you can't actually mine directly into the can but have to manually move it. Is using a macro to do this against the rules as I would be watching my miner and for reds on d scan so is it allowed? I know macro's that mine completely automated are against the rules while some macro's that aid you are ok. It's a shame you can't select a destination for your mining lasers ie into a can or an orca/hauler.
I don't know if I'm going to get into mining regularly I just wanted to do a few ops to say I've done it. I met another miner in our grav site but after a sharp warp out by everyone we realized that we were all here to mine and not gank. The system is dead end and as long as you send a scout ahead, check local and d scan gates I've had no trouble moving hauler back to high sec.
I made some easy ISK in ore value with really bad skills only mining level 3. I'm a bit wary of investing more skills into mining but I suppose it will get me an Orca in the end which is always handy. The problem with null/low sec gravs sites is that the rats can be fairly powerful so unless you're going to swap to combat ship or have a dedicated combat ship then mining in barges would be fairly pointless as they can't tank the rats. I'm thinking that if I continue to mine grav sites a mining battleship jet canning is probably my best bet As it'll be able to perma tank the rats and has the greatest afk factor being able to hold most ore but sadly will have the greatest scan me down factor.
One good point is that grav sites tend to be near celestial so most people will presume your ship is pos'd if one is also close by especially if there are no rat wrecks on scan. . |

so no it is not allowed.
Get into a hulk and fit it for tank and it will easily be able to tank rats in 0.0 grav sites |

The first system I moved to was Sontrentaria (0.5), and the would mine the constellation.
Then I moved to Amarr space, and it was like "Wow! This place is always empty!" and made that my home. |

Move to low sec it's safer, it really is. In hi sec everyone is a potential attacker, all 500 billion of them in the system with you. So it's hard to keep track. In low sec you can find abandoned systems and mine in peace if you want, watch local it's easy and use the scanner.
Go to the crime and punishment forum and read up on it people suicide ganking miners are giving advice to thsoe who want it on one particular topic on how to avoid them. Not hard to believe since most people don't bother doing research so I doubt it decrease their targets. |
