Is TNP worth training to level 5 for a PvE Torp Golem? Am I going to see much of an improvement?
On a side note...whatever happened to the online missile simulator thingy?

Very much so.
The online missile simulator thingy would be very inaccurate now, so I guess they removed it rather than update, as it is no longer such an easy simulation.

I thought it might make a difference given that even BS npc's fly faster than the explosion velocity of my torps.
Just wish I could find out the extent of the difference.

Wont EFT calculate it for you?

EFT just does absolute DPS and volley, with no consideration for any other damage affecting factors like tracking, target size, velocity, etc.
Let me crunch some numbers and I'll compare the difference between TNP 4 and TNP 5.

Fine, EFT damage graphs works for turrets.
It still doesn't work for missiles as altering the target velocity does nothing to the dps and doesn't account for missile velocity at all (torpedos will not hit anything going above 3.4km/s unless the target is very stupid).

Thanks for the responses -much appreciated.
Originally by: Marine HK4861 Assuming that you are firing T1 torps at a target with a painted signature of 450m travelling at 140m/s, the difference between TNP4 and TNP5 is ~6% extra damage or 40 damage per missile assuming Torpedoes 5 only.
Note that the numbers change drastically depending on the speed of the target and its signature radius
That's actually better than I thought it might be. At 6% or more damage increase TNP 5 is starting to sound a lot more attractive than I originally thought.
