I have a question about the yellow icons in the overview.
Sometimes, wrecks or containers are yellow instead of white (the triangle or the rhomb). As far as i know, this has nothing to do with the security status as this would be indicated with a yellow background (or what else is set in the overview options).
So, what does a yellow icon mean? Does it have something to do with the lootright?
Thanks in advance.

It means that its not 'owned' by you and looting it will result in an aggression timer to the actual owner.

You can salvage another players' wreck, as long as it has no loot in it. <><><><> Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion, you must set yourself on fire. |

That does not matter. The loot will spawn as a yellow can after salvaging and you will not be agressed. Finally, someone should make a really cool sig for me. |

Edited by: Grista on 27/04/2009 17:42:32 All it means is the wreck/can was dropped by someone not in your corp or alliance.
In the case of NPC wrecks, the killing blow was by someone not in your corp/alliance.
edit: all rules regarding kill rights, etc, for stealing from a wreck/can in empire (mentioned above) apply.

Ok, so if I and another player are in the same NPC corporation for example, and are shooting at the same rat, the wrack will be white for both of us.
How is it then possible to find out, who got the lootright on the wrack if it is not clear, who gave it the killing blow?
Is the "owner" of the wrack/can displayed somewhere?

You can turn on show corp/pilot etc in your overview settings (right click overview label). A can will be labeled like a ship when you mouse over it on screen. If it's yellow, it's not yours to take (well, at least if they are looking ).
Not quite sure how this works out for players in NPC corp, probably pilot ownership determines ownership, not NPC corp, but could be wrong here. Anyway, all you need to remember is the yellow-is-not-mine rule.
Finally, someone should make a really cool sig for me. |
