Ardor, your sermon sounds like someone trying to rectify his greed. With the money you could buy ten times more slaves, but those Odent will release are lost. They will fall back into darkness and their pagan belief, hating their former masters more than ever.
There is no proof you say, but apparently you trust the words of the Intaki more than Amarrians. Has your hatred of the Empire grown that strong?
Personally I have about fifty slaves and most of them I got for running errands for the house of Sarum - not as a reward but as a sideproduct from rescuing Amarrians abducted and sold into slavery by greedy individuals who do not care whom they carry in their holds or what is going to happen to them. These slaves I get are mostly elders and children. The former have done their due and are broken, the latter have yet to be taught their role in life.
I take the responsibility of looking after them like god looks after his chosen serious. All of the younger slaves will become willing servants of their master. I will not mistreat them when they obey, I will see that proper work will give them a place in life and I will teach them the scriptures and our traditions extensively. None of them will ever want to be 'freed'.
Maybe this difference is due to the fact that I am a commoner, a son of workers in a mining colony in Ardishapur space. Maybe it is due to the fact that I have served in the legions of Heideran for all my life and know that loyalty and the fullfillment of duty should be rewarded.

And what of it? Surely you are not a fratricidal monster like the Matari.
I was born in Dam Torsad many years ago into the religious caste. I am formally part of no great house save that of the Imperial Family - who rule over Amarr directly.
Unlike 99.999% of the people on both sides of this conflict my father is very much alive and happy. I never knew my mother since she died of natural causes when I was very young. He is proud of my accomplishments, though he hopes that I will follow in his stead and take up ministry and preaching full time.
How about you Discorporation? The empire is strong because it is made up of *superior* people from *all* walks of life.

A fine example of the nonsence of Amarr Ethics and ideology of "superiority"! even between the Amarr subjects there is dispute over who is more superior than the other!! I am a Caldari, a true trader and business man. I do trade slaves although i dont use them. I have a very good standing with the Amarr empire authorities and many business partners to do business with. But i am sick and tired of listening about "Amarr superiority" and "God chosen nation" and al that crap. What do the Amarr consider the Joves then????? the Joves that in one single battle exterminated almost 1/3 of the Empires fleet when the emperor had the "bright idea" to attack them?? Money and trade is my God, Militery order is my ethos, technological advancement is my pasion. I respect the other races (since they might be future clients) and try to make profit out of it. i recon, the "Amarr pseudo-superiority attitude" will be the cause of the downfall of the Empire.

Edited by: Discorporation on 02/09/2004 11:34:25 The Ardishapur family is the most zealous of all the five houses. Their commoners are usually kept in the dark about world politics, haven't got the standard of living that, say, Tash-Murkon residents have and are generally, no offense, rather backwards in their ways.
Nurtured in such an environment, it's only natural that one would believe the lies perpetuated by the independant corporations of Amarr and to a lesser extent that of the Imperial clergy and Theology Council.
As for my heritidge, it's largely irrelevant that both my parents were migrant workers and wholly unimportant (or interesting for that matter).

The Jovians are one of the many tests god is presenting to the faithfull. Amarr grew overconfident and pride thus underestimating these formidable yet unnatural beasts, who defy creation.
If we return to the path outlined in the scriptures we will pass this test and Amarr will be stronger afterwards.

How very nice to describe the Joves as "beasts". Probably all the Amarr ships should abandon the Capsule- Pilot technology that the Jove beasts gave to the rest of the world??!! Maybe that is what you mean Tharrn when you say "return to the path...." I think the conflict with the Joves was a lesson allright, a lesson that the Amarrs obviously did not get and moreover misinterprented. Books and scriptures wont evolve you to a better race/person. Science and technology will, a proven example of the Joves and their evolution status. Just because they are different that doesnt make them beasts. Joves do come from a human blood as we all. Just that some "believe blindly" that they are superior due to some relegious dogma, were others have proved it already, on a science/technology basis and on Warfare !!!

That is why they are beasts of darkness.

ok ok, i am not a soulless creature so i understand your point of view. However it takes more than just relegious dogma and ethos to characterise a hole nation as "beasts of darkness". It reminds me of thousands of years ago when our ancestors back on Planet Earth used to Crusify and Burn "witches and scientists" as blasfimous to god simply because religion was, and probably still is, afraid of Scientific and technological advancement. Where science goes forward - relegion goes backwards and vice versa = Where relegion thrives, Science is abandoned. That is a fact seen in our ancestors historic past, described as what they called it "the Dark Ages" where all scientific progress halted for almost a thousand earth years!! I truly hope the Amarr relegion does not lead into something so "dark and blind" as our ancestors 1000 years of emptyness!

You dont want to understand. I am defending slave trade. It can not be that those who sold slaves are responsible to what happens to the slaves after the deal. This would make slave trade impossible. I made a deal which enabled me to have ten times more slaves than before. No matter how much you try to twist this fact, in the end I have more slaves than before because of this deal. This can not be wrong.

Yes, there is no proof. And it is completly irrelevant what Odent made with his slaves after I sold them to him because this deal enabled me to have ten times more slaves than before. It is completly irrelevant if I trust Odent because I made a deal to my advantage. No, I dont trust any Gallente, Intaki etc. This deal made my slave stock become bigger than before which can not be bad. I will repeat it once more. I increased my slave stock in a 10:1 ratio because of this deal and this can not be wrong.
You are accusing me to trust the words of an Intaki more than the words of Amarrians? This is ridiculous. It was Sister Wheya who left the Tetrimon channel a few days ago in disgust because you and others prefered to cooperate with this certain gallentean woman. The unproofen source of the accusations against Odent is of gallentean orign, too.
I can proudly announce that my corporation is the only Amarr only corporation that I know about which uses Amarr ships exclusively and which is not cooperating with foreigners in war. I do believe I know most Amarr corporations. There might be other corporations I havent heard about.
I don't hate the Empire. My fight always was about to reunite all amarrians under the banner of God.

I appreciate your zeal in teaching your slaves. It is noble to do so. You might see there is a difference as my slave stock does not allow me to give private lessons while your tiny slave stock allows you to do so. Of course you will have a higher rate of success in percentage while I have a higher rate of success in numbers. If you want the Reclaiming you must think about increasing your slavestock in future. I disagree. Those slaves you sold are now lost. They are subject to the lies of those who oppose us and will hate you even more than they presumably did when they were in your possession. Will you sell the next, tenfold bigger number of slaves again to be freed to make more profit and buy more slaves to be freed again? Do you see where this leads or are you blind on one eye? 'Slavetraders' with your view are undermining the reclaiming as our brave legions cannot conquor new worlds as fast as you sell the enslaved new children of the Empire back into 'freedom' in the spirit of reclaiming more personal wealth. Slavetrade is only healthy for as long as it takes place within the Empire and, apparently, needs to be controlled by governmental bodies as it is getting out of hand.

Blatant, unfounded lies. I have never been in that channel with any foreigner, and I doubt that you have actively seen me meddling with anyone but Amarrians and Ni-Kunni. I have made absolutely clear that the Primus Pilum will never fight alongside the so called 'Auxillias' or against other Amarrians. The only non-Amarrian I am in active contact with is a Minmatar slave serving a fellow Amarrian - and serving well and obedient. I do not care if a Gallente is the source for the accusations against Odent. Fellow Amarrians have attested the claims and I have no reason not to believe them. For as long as there is the slightest shadow of doubt staining Odent's name faithfull Amarrians would not deal with him.

Which is not astounding. As a sidenote you are not an Amarrian but a Khanid corporation (a fact that could be rectified if you would return to the fold) and the only active pilot appears to be Wheya while you prefer to hide in your ivory tower preaching from the safety of a station. If you would leave it once in a while you might have noticed that the Primus Pilum has, like the 1st Praetorian Guard had before, only imperial Amarrians in it's ranks. We will try to recruit traditionalists who serve the Houses of Ardishapur and Sarum in the near future and will continue to fullfill the criteria you mentioned above.
Apparently there are differences in the view of slavery in Khanid as a whole though as I get an increasing number of assignments by the House Sarum to bring up Khanid Slavers who have abducted Amarrian citizens to sell them into slavery. The bunch of Khanid Slaver Insignia I have is rapidly increasing and it doesn't help to strengthen my faith in your view. Apparently no Khanid is really picky regarding the origin or fate of his slaves, which is why I have to decline your kind offer to patronize me.
I will disengage from the religious discussions in the future though. My time in the Theology Council is over and I have returned to the sparse life of a legionaire.

Apparently no Khanid is really picky regarding the origin or fate of his slaves, which is why I have to decline your kind offer to patronize me.
I will disengage from the religious discussions in the future though. My time in the Theology Council is over and I have returned to the sparse life of a legionaire.

If my math is not wrong my way of business will end with me owning all slaves and a bankrupt smuggler.
You have said that the Primus Pilum will never fight alongside foreigners. A few minutes later the Gallente appeared and Wheya asked her to leave the channel. Other Amarrians defended the Gallente while you stayed silent. So Wheya left the channel under protest. This is the truth. Of course I know you could have been away from your communication systems but you also have a recorder running. Or you could have asked Wheya why she wasnt visiting the channel anymore while she was a constant member of the channel the time before. I also doubt there was no discussion about Wheya after she left the channel.
Dark Amarr are Amarr. Very simple. We are those Amarr who don't have a positive standing towards Gallente but enslave them. We are those Amarr who have a more negative standing towards Jove and Minmatar. We are those Amarr who dont follow Pax Amarria but gave Tetrimon a save haven. We have the same religion and we serve the same God. If there is one difference between us then it is that we do it better.
My pilots havent done missions for the Kingdom for a long time because we are waiting for harder missions and do other important things during this time. I remember lots of reports from Amarr Navy and Nefantar intrusions into our territory some months ago. I am also aware of Dark Amarrian intrusions into Empire space. This is not a one sided problem and to be honest I dislike the way it is now. You know my corp has good relations towards the Ardishapur and fair relations towards Sarum which will increase in future. I always fought for a united amarrian race and will continue to do so. I am sure my beloved King Khanid II is doing a much better 'job' than Heideran or Doriam.
Yes, I rarely leave my monastery. I am an old man who can't fly anything bigger than an Impairor. Where is the problem? Do you believe all priests should preach from an Apocalypse class battleship and not in church? Do you believe all decisions are made in space? My pilots Wheya and Arderich are my ears and my eyes exploring the galaxy. They are loyal. It never was a secret that they will obey my orders and are acting in my name.
I had much hope in you when I saw you returning and I still have. A lot of our problems could have been resolved in private channels before this thread was started. I am willing to return to the Tetrimon channel so this will not happen a second time. I do believe we have much in common and our common goals are more important than our disagreements. A Tetrimon channel cleaned from foreigners would be a good start.

I never saw any foreigner in that channel and I didn't notice when Wheya left either. When I noticed that she was no longer in there a couple of days ago I thought she had left like most others who frequented it as the channel has never really been used after a few discussions after the Tetrimon first popped up. Our hope to see one of the order in that channel to get some firsthand information never played out either. Earlier today I left it, too, as it has lost it's function entirely and there have never been more than two or three silent people in there.
I still disagree on this issue but I will leave it at that for the sake of the old times and as I always held the brotherhood in high regard.
I, too, would like to see a channel where the truely faithfull can assemble unmolested.

ok ok, i am not a soulless creature so i understand your point of view.

Perhaps Tharrn's explanation was a bit simplistic for your tastes. I will attempt to expound on it.
Through genetic manipulation, the Jovians thought to play God and to make themselves better. They attempted to remove many parts of themselves that we commonly identify as "human".
History tells us that the Jovians made a horrible mistake; ultimately they were rewarded with the "wasting sickness" for their efforts. That illness nearly killed them all off, and it still afflicts them today.
We Amarrians believe that only faith in God and service to the Empire can make one better. All fact aside I believe that the Jovians tried to play God, and they received holy judgement from the real God for trying.
As for new jovian technology, I prefer to watch our Khanid brothers adapt and perfect new Jovian or Caldari technologies before trying them myself. I am just stubborn that way.
As for the Jove power, aye indeed it is great. I witnessed a single Jove frigate destroy an entire m0o battleship taskforce in Yulai for doing something called "exploiting". The battle was over in mere seconds, with a very predictable outcome. I doubt that anyone could have done any better than we did in that war.
