So I'm cruising around low sec doing L4 distribution missions when an expertly setup pair of Tornados show up camping a gate they weren't previously camping. Kudos to you guys on your ambush. I honestly didn't suspect I was being tracked and you took me by surprise. A well earned kill for you both.
My question is more of a curiosity. At the time, I was carrying some Distribution mission goods (The "Silly Miners" mission, carrying crates of drill bits.)
Does distribution mission loot actually contain real items, should it fall into hands other than the original mission runner? Or is it effectively useless (other than for ransom) to someone other than the mission runner.
Just a curiosity. I don't make minerals. I just make ore 20% cooler. |

The latter. It's simply a mission-specific item.
Player-made courier contracts contain actual items, though. |

Thanks.
Is there any way to see the killmail? (Other than my attackers sending it to me) I'm curious as to the type of ammo used so I might adapt my tank in the future.
Failing that, for you Tornado fitters, what ammo do you normally use for ganking? I don't make minerals. I just make ore 20% cooler. |

You should be able to post your own loss mail. Simply click your combat log. Then click the loss tab. Click on the icon to the left of the specific loss, then go to battleclinic to post the kill.
That said, it would not help you in the manner you think. With guns, the killmail lists the gun used, but not the ammo type. The only time the ammo type is listed is when the attackers use only missiles or only drones.
Still, projectile guns are unique in that they are the only turret with selectable damage. More than likely, if you were in a caldari ship, they used em damage ammo, if anyone else, explosive it thermal. |

Would you recommend that I fit an omni-damage hardener? Or a specific damage type? (With the rest of the mid slots dedicated to shield extenders).

Depending on what you were flying (sorry if I missed it) and the setups of those Tornado's it will be difficult to survive Tornado alpha.
My memory may not serve me when stating this, but depending on how many they had (you said pair so I assume 2) they will pretty much instapop you everytime.
Were you flying the T2 cloaked version of your ex-hauler?
If not, train for one of those and - if at all possible - to the delivery in 2 runs.
Good to see you being totally okay with the aforementioned experience, there are plenty of players out there that would rage about said encounter. Malum Crusis is recruiting!

Hoarder, fit ultra cheaply. I knew I was flying a paper airplane out there. Hence the lack of rage, tears or other such silly emotions :) While I did lose that cargo and had to fail that mission, I was able to complete about 20 missions prior to getting popped, so my overall level of risk is quite acceptable given my long term goal (rep grinding a corp).
It helps that I could replace my entire setup for ~2mil. (not counting insurance windfalls).
The only reason I was asking about shields is that I think I was close to escaping. I was popped with two salvos. The first one took me to just under 1/2 armor. The 2nd finished me off. However, I was *just* about to enter warp when the 2nd one hit. Had I survived the 2nd, I would have escaped before the 3rd fired. That is the reason I'm flying a hoarder, despite having the skills for a mammoth. It aligns and warps faster than the mammoth, but can hold enough cargo for even the largest L4 mission (8000 m3) and still fit a stab.

I congratulate you sir. In fact, I don't even classify you as a carebear due to your lack of rage, tears and the like.
I will give you a good recommendation.
Train for T2 haulers, and invest in a Blockade Runner with a Covert Ops Cloaking Device. Makes you quite a bit harder to catch.

You are definitely a more agreeable person when it comes to ship loss among the PvE players, kudos to you for not flying what you can't lose, and remembering its a game, and even congratulating your killers, you are actually a genuine decent human being.

Theres not much by way of tank that will let a indy survive in low sec. Either gimp fit it for mwd and cloak (and google 'mwd cloak trick') or train up for the Covert-ops transporter of your choice (I like viators and cranes but if you are pushed to choose... any will be ok, although the minmatar one has the worst cargo, although thats only an issue if you want to haul cruiser hulls about low sec for a pvp alt). The minmatar one is the only one with 2 high slots to compensate for that though. (a¦á_a¦â) ~ http://getoutnastyface.blogspot.com/ ~ (a¦á_a¦â) |

You're winning EVE sirrah! You knew what you were about, the risks involved, and you avoided the poor me trap when you were not able to avoid the in game trap. Some times you get the mouse, sometimes you are the mouse. Such is life in EVE.
I'm a big fan of using the Prorator personally but IIRC the Minnie blockade runner is the fastest of the four though not the biggest. With a MWD and a Cov-Op cloak, you're dang near untouchable using a BR in LS. 'perfer et obdura; dolor hic tibi proderit olim'

I agree, well back to the point. I don't think there is any way you could have survived being hit by 2 tornado's off hand, you were pretty much screwed for that. As for tanking, omni tanks are nice, though the thing people forget is that your lowest resist is something you shouldn't forget, for some reason people forget to fill the EM hole while shield tanking for example.
Besides that, I would listen to some of the other advice others gave like the mwd/cloak trick, or use a transporter. Depends on how much your willing to invest, personally I am cheap and like the mwd/cloak setup if your just doing missions, keep your losses to a minium when you do get caught. If you are actually transporting valuable goods I would be using the transporter ship with cov-ops cloak. |

What good is a MWD if you're using a Cov-Op cloak? Also, since when do Blockade Runners have the PG to fit a MWD, or assuming you were referring to non-cloaky Transports, since when do they have the CPU to fit a Cov-Ops cloak?
@ OP: I assume you're referring to this killmail. By the looks of it, those Tornadoes you ran into were actually Hurricanes instead. You very well might have survived that gank by fitting a basic T1 shield tank to your Hoarder. 2 Medium shield extenders and 1 Invulnerability field. Still cheap, but much less susceptible to the average1-2 man gate camp. |

Not sure if serious.
If you are, u realize you can in fact use the MWD and then switch to the cloak right. Granted in LS its not really necessary unless you screw up, but it will save your life if you get bubbled in Null. And I have a Prorator, with a MWD. I also own an Impel without one. In reality in LS I find the Impel more useful, but you need a scout. With the BR you have no such worries.

Serious, just mistaken. I was looking at the unskilled PG of the Blockade Runners and scratching my head how a 10mn MWD would fit. But, of course, with average fitting skills a 10mn MWD easily fits. My bad.
Still doesn't explain how a MWD would make you any safer in Lowsec if you're already using a CovOps cloak. With average skills a Blockade Runner aligns in 5-7 seconds, while using a MWD would only serve to slow down your time to warp.
A useful tactic, indeed, but irrelevant when using a CovOps cloak. |

I realized that. I'm fitting a tank now and survived a Loki taking a few shots at me as well as a drake blasting at me as well as trying to unsuccessfully scramble me.

A proper fit Cloaky hauler does not need the mwd cloaky trick. Proper cloaky warps in less than 5 seconds. MWD takes 10seconds to cycle. You are wasting time. |
