Okay, so after you fire one shot why not just immediately reload the gun? I guess if the rechambering process takes X seconds then whatever, but reloading takes 10 seconds and rate of fire is what, 17 seconds or something? Just something to think about. Need stuff moved? Guns make a full cycle after they fired a shot, not before they fire.

RoF is how long it takes to compensate recoil then eject the empty shell. Another Shell is then loaded instantly.
Reload is when after the last shell is ejected (17secs or whatever) they pull the Ammo Magazine and load a new one. (10secs)
My guess. |

Because the barrel has to reset, the resonant harmonics must die out, you have to expel the waste heat, and ensure that all combustible material has been cleared from the chamber. Attempting to insert a new round before this is done will lead to misses, misfires or even to the new munition going off prematurely. Trying to reload the weapon system before this cycle is complete introduces the risk of having still-burning gasses and/or unspent propellant flow back into the ammunition storage area, setting off some really spectacular fireworks.
The actual re-chambering process takes less than a second GÇö getting the gun ready to do so takes significantly longer. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

There was a time when you didn't need the next shot.
I think those were the bad old days as I couldn't use that weapon system back then.
I did lose a Caracal to alpha while afterburning the 15km to the gate (Didn't have the needed 60 bookmarks for that low sec system, my bad).
Warp in, lock (align out), fire, warp out, reload in warp?
---- CONCORD arrested two n00bs yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off. |
