Well got the new mission, and I blew it when trying to deal with the battleships
For the Minmatar verions, its again 3 tempests, but this time accompanied by 5 Ruptures and 6 Support Frigates, which from the looks of it are Claw interceptors.
All of the ships appear to have either afterburners or MWD given the rate they were closing on me. I start off at about 140Km or so, trying to hit the frigates is a waste of time even at that range. Was hoping to have enough distance between me and the larger ships that I would be able to deal with the intys afore the other ships got too close, was not to be. Intys could take a doulbe cruise missile hit and keep coming, in fact I think one took 4 missiles given that between volleys it had time to regen its shields somewhat. Managed to only take down 4 intys afore I got clobbered. Didn't have a smartbomb fitted but they seemed to orbit outside range of even a large. Heavy drones didn't seem to really be able to take them fast enought to make a difference. And of course the intys all web and warp jam
Was using 1400s to hit the battleships, and missiles/drones against the Intys. Probably not using the right set up for it, and that didn't help. But I'd day this would be pretty damn tough for anyone trying this solo.
You could get creative and set up a series of cans that you can warp to, fire, bring down an inty or two, get too close warp to a can further away and start again. Cheap tactics, and it would take a while to lay out but it might work.

frigs might have been assault ship's. ive had a few mission where ive had to kill an assualt ship and the damn thing was imposible to hit. got a whack with a 425 carbide doing 600 from 60km which stripped its shield after that i couldnt touch it so let my drones do the killing which took about a minute. npc interceptors die so fast compared to the assault frig's

Fairly sure they were interceptors, used the same model as the claw anyways :-)

I told you, you really should quit soloing, man
Guess we can all see the advantage of mixed fleets for tough lvl 3 and, eventually, lvl 4 combat missions already...

It's perfectly possible to solo this mission. I almost did earlier. Was boring though, took me quite some time to snipe the escorts using bookmarks and warping back and forth. So when I was ready to fight the Navy Domithtrons (description says Mega but they have Dominix models) I found out that they didn't fight at the range I expected and at that point I was too bored with the whole situation to gather the gear...

The Gallente version had 3 Megathrons (but they looked like Dominix...), 5 Thorax and 8 Support Frigates.

I just solo'd the gal one - you can quite easily take out the assault frigs first, then the thorax's and then manouver yourself to fight the bships 1v1.
The domi icon on the throns is a bug (reported already), and the assault ships do give a 30k bounty. ----------- "Remember people: Omber is the biggest evil ever created, DO NOT let it get to you!" Waagaa Ktlehr, BDCI

Wasn't just the icon in my mission, they actually looked like Domis.

Maybe they are trying an old trick .
Back in the days when range scan didnt show ship type, but only the name, i had lots of fun naming my scouting frigates Meau¦s Megathron and the like .

Underestimated this one too...
Three of us in battleships thought it would be a piece of **** and started way too close...
Unfortunately, I opened fire first and was astounded just how quick they came after me. Got webbed and scarmbled real quick and then pounded at close range by the 3 battleships, 5 support cruisers & multitude of frigs and interceptors.
Took out 3 of the cruisers and about half the frigs but my 3 armor hardeners + 1 large and 1 med repairer couldnt keep up with the damage being put out and went down.
By the time I died the fleet had been thinned out a bit but even then a second corp m8 got webbed/scrambled and had to switch off all guns purely to tank for a while.
The third pilot started picking off the frigs/cruisers one by one and then together with pilot two finished off the battleships.
Loot wasn't that great either. A few named guns and an Large Accomodated Repairer - certainly not enough to compensate for an Armageddon.
Approach with caution... I know I will next time...

Does this mission give a standing hit if you attack the convoy? And if so, how much of a hit? -----------------

Well, though I only managed to kill a few I didn't get any noticeable drop in standing.
