Password changed! Thank you! What about keyloggers? Should I be worried? IE did not say that it was installing anything when I visited. How would I scan for them? Thanks!

You very well could have a keylogger if you run a browser that lets javascript run unrestricted.
Go here: http://www.avira.com/en/pages/index.php
Download it and the latest virus definitions. Then unplug the computer from the internet and let it look around. When it's done, get a firewall (Like Comodo or Zone Alarm), and run that.

Once you've done that, you should get yourself a real browser. For example, Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, or even Safari.
IE is nothing but trouble.

For Firefox do not forget the NoScript plugin! (It takes a little effort to put thrusted websites on the secure list, but after that you got much less to worry about..
I even dare to venture to **** site's now :D

Or in this case, the account holder. Which, by the looks of it, it is no longer the OP.

If you just use IE7 you are fine too. But no browser can help you if you seriously follow that url and enter your account pass. (Well a phishing filter might alert you). ---------------------------------------------

No, you aren't. FF + NoScript is immeasurably more secure.

Using only the eve IGB is even more secure. Or using a purely text based browser inside a virtual machine inside a virtual machine.
If you aren't stupid you should be fine too with IE7. Then if you use IE7 or FF it is a personal preferance. ---------------------------------------------

Any realistic discussion of security relies on users engaging brain, so that goes without saying.
But,
Originally by: Furb Killer Using only the eve IGB is even more secure.
Surely you jest. The IGB is one of the least secure, worst written things in existence.

I dont know how sucky the igb is exactly, but since it has roughly 1% of the functionality of a real browser, i assumed they couldnt make too many security leaks ---------------------------------------------

Why doesn't CCP simply filter out links to phishing/isk selling from ever being displayed in game as they are found?
I don't really see any excuse. We've all known about phishing for how many decades now?

I am still in control of my account, lol. I changed my password, as suggested above by Haakelen--I think that your quick response might have well saved my account. (The only side effect is that I keep putting in my old password.) Thank you for all your help guys! I do feel that I was kind of stupid not to check that link because I do see the hyphen and not the dot now. But I did run full system scan virus check and everything *seems* to be fine. Thank you all again!

if you are a smart account holder like myself and change you password to a roating letter/number password every month, dont go on any isk selling sites or only use link that came off a www.eveonline.com site or www.eve-online.com site then the likly hood of you account being stolen from you in minutely minimal.
if this was not the case everyone would be posting in the forum going there account was stolen/hack
If i were in CCP, when i would see these post come up in the forum i would almost instantly do a check on there isk history to see if they have purchased any isk.
i believe there should be harsher penalities to isk buyers , once people actually start getting bans because they are buying isk we would find less cases of this since more and more people would see that it is a risk to there account if they do.

Edit: Looks like the site's gone now.

The minus X billion isk syndrome ive seen affect a few players leaves you almost completely unable to do a thing - its a hell of a struggle to do anything after that happens unless you have seriously good friends in eve Its better than a simple ban.

While I do find it enteraining that people are scammed so easily both in eve, and in actual life, it still sickens me. Laughing things off personally is my way of dealing with the stupidity of man. Seriously, why would you look at that link and think "HEY GUYS THIS SEEMS LEGIT"
Then again I'm an IT professional so what do I know. ( btw my friend says IT is an abbreviation for In.Ternet lol) |

True, no browser can really protect you from your own stupidity.
But swapping out IE for a real browser isn't just about security. There are sooo many other reasons. Most people won't care about, or even understand, those reasons, but they are there... those of us that care, know.
I mean, most web-developers hate IE... what does that tell you?
I'm ranting... sorry
