Im not sure what to go for. im going to be running through caldari lvl 3s to get corp members rateing up, i was wondering whats the besT?
so far im thinking domi, raven, drake?
honestly im leaning towards the drake but with all most of my sp in gunner, galltente and amarr ships, im not sure what to go for.
also i dont want to get a command ship cause of the insane prices (though a hac i wouldnt be against)

fastest lvl 3 runner is probably one of the new strategic cruiser, im pretty sure a proteus drone setup could hardly be rivaled. although a tengu with its missiles could be close.
and since youre only doing missions with it and not likely to lose it, i would think it would be worth to save up for one.

Drake. Missile ships still run missions with exponentially greater efficiency than any other ship type.
I always use a Drake for level 4's. If you're running level 3's I'll leave it up to you whether or not you use light assault launchers or heavy standard launchers. Depending on the mission it could differ, I suppose.
Even if you only have moderate missile skills, missile ships are the better mission running ships. I've come to that conclusion after running enough missions to accumulate over 300k LPs w/ RSS.

Drake. Cheap, easy to tank, can run heavy missiles and 3 damage mods, does everything without difficulty. __________________________________

I used Dominix. It can be treated like oversized BC (with slow lock time). I guess that is closest to CS you get with T1 in regards to mission running. Also you have so many free slots to play with it is nice break from otherwise rigid mission setups.
If I were to run L3s for longer though I would use Drake too.

If you can fly it, Nighthawk. If not, Drake will do fine too.

Drake is pretty good and cheap. Cerb is faster for those missions where you have to trek eleventyfive KM to the next gate or rats are more than 75Km away.

Drake with F.o.F. heavy missiles. F.o.F. missiles do only 6% less damage compared to the normal counterparts when you have F.o.F. Missiles level 5.

Nighthawk will run lvl 3's the fastest. But I'm sure the new T3 cruisers would be nice for mission running, so long as you can live with making a pirate cry.

Edited by: Von Kapiche on 05/05/2009 11:34:14 Domi or drake, having used both recently. Domi is a lot less effort than a drake even. Mind you if you're going to do it all with medium drones might as well use a Myrm.
Alt I recently dragged through l3 standings grind in a drake had 200k in missiles & was still fast, so I'd do that tbh. Use a painter too, makes a difference when your support skills are neglegible.

Ishtar suffers that drones need to travel and sentries are always off optimal pretty much.
EDIT: Tengu pwns Drake, but why would you use that much isk when you can do it with under 50 M ISK

Meh… in my experience, things in L3s tend to travel in a straight line (making optimal less important) and die before they ever reach their orbiting range. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Drone travel would certainly kill your completion time in an Ishtar, but it does make for a great lazy mission runner.

Drake is a total no brainer to operate. Lock a bunch of targets, hit F1, lock another one, rinse, repeat.
Speed is not really an issue. You just slowboat while you pop stuff.

If Drone travel time is an issue, you're doing it wrong. Using Sentries for targets beyond 10-15km gets rid of that problem right quick. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

No, it gets better. Fit an auto-targeter, group weapons, activate auto-targeter, jam something on F1 and go away I mean that still works, right, it keeps toggling launchers on and off, right ? If not, loading FOFs will do fine too, but you have to come back every 4-7 minutes or so.

It does, but it's far better and easier with a ship like Ishtar or Dominix, where you just get aggro, launch drones, go afk. Not losing any major amount of DPS due to over tanking helps too.

And risk getting drones killed by reinforcements while AFK ? No, thanks

passive gank muninn did missions fast enough, for minm agents.
650s and assaults 2x extenders and an afterburner 3x gyros dcu II and a tracking mod 2x shield extender rigs.
12k shield and 600 m/s speed with 460 dps to around 40-45km.
im sure a similar sleipnir setup would be better ofc, but this handled them pretty damned quick.

No. Get aggro on everything, reinforcements on almost all missions are scripted to aggro whoever already has it. The Blockade for instance, will keep sending reinforcements but they'll never target your drones after the first waves. IIRC AE is the same (I soloed the last 3 AFK so I'm pretty sure). Very few missions will actually go for your drones if you know what you're doing, and you can just watch TV or whatever next to the PC for those.
