Edited by: Chinwe Rhei on 08/05/2009 18:19:48 I'm thinking about mid-late 2010.
They've got some things done, but it isn't even alpha yet and it looks like they've been working on plenty of other things in parallel (other T3 ships for example).
As for in-station PvP. You may not be able to punch someone in the face, but you can beat them over a game of space-poker and take-off with their isk. Good enough for me .

I'm pretty excited about WIS, but I have to say eventually... This.
I lol'd
Really depends on how much there is to do once in a station. Looks like it will start off as something thats just "nice to have" but once its in place the scope for development is endless.
If theres enough to do in stations, eve could appeal to a whole new market (not sure if this a good thing or not, since on the whole the eve playerbase is quite mature)

Not sure what you mean by this. I have two friends who won't bother playing Eve until they can WIS. They're both in their late twenties and quite mature. They believe, rightly, that Eve would feel "incomplete" without this feature.
I'm only playing Eve now because I earnestly believe WIS is coming soon.

Its better to walk around in station, actually doing something then station-spinning. Lots of **** you can do, including, but not limited to, play some weird games and watch some strippers. Wouldn't surprise me if you could play EOH Texas Hold'em there to

I'm not saying it wont attract more of the right people, I only meant that there is a possibility of it attracting some of the wrong people too. Two of your mates is hardly a large market survey is it :p
I'm actually really looking forward to WIS, I just hope it doesn't mess with the current dynamic. tbh though the learning curve will still be just as steep so hopefully nothing will change too much

Would be cool if clear skies could have been done with the WIS engine, CS is looking a little dated now.

For me, the WIS concept adds (or rather reinforces) one thing about this game - immersion.

Just think of all the awesome new videos that will appear when WIS comes out and actually the trailers for expansions could all be done with proper people as well. Join the brown Coats today!!! |

i can forsee the vid as such
you see a epic space battle playing out which then the camara start to move back and it on a tv screen in the main hall. suddendly a freighter of say escapees or something from a station get caught up in the fighting all the people in the hall start to show worried faces. people come out of the pubs ect to look at the screen which now cuts to a camara with the entire crowd. camara now moved back to tv which then fold out into a space cam going over the fighting.
expllosion happens where the eve logo appears from the explosion
if you buy eve in a box from my game store i will give you isk (GAME , parkgate rotherham)

Basically i'd like to see WiS for:
#1 it'll attract new kind of players, not quite into the Eve mentality (steal, loot, **** lol) aka "easy targets" #2 When time is too short to do other stuff, you might well take a game of somthing that gives isk.
I'm sure WiS 1.0 is okay, but 2.0 will give further great options.

I lol'd. Why have I never seen that before?
I'm pretty excited about WiS myself, I think it will really make things interesting. Having things to do while inside of the stations isn't just up to CCP though, it is also up to the players. Obviously the new features have to work, but the players also have to run the shops/bars/etc in order for there to be anything to do.

What do you want to bet that 99% of the avatars you will see in stations will be female?

Have you ever seen playstation home? (walking around..... well... just walking around)
I don't know if its still like it, but its basicly just hundreds of dudes with male avatars wondering about. And if you do happen to see a female avatar there are literally like 20-30 guys following them about doing little dances.
I love the idea of walking in stations so I really hope it doesn't turn out like that!

New way for players to earn isk...stripping at bars...Dear lord that reeks of WoW but yet I think it will be awesome in EvE.
On another note, I still hope they implement the ability to get into bar fights and with some usable weapons (broken beer bottle, pool Que, etc), and the ability to get stoned.

well apparently this study shows that humans will be much happier while waiting if they know how much longer they must wait (like the timers on the semaphores).
sadly CCP is very secret about stuff, and gives away information only when its practically already out...
but since we have been waiting for ambulation since 2004? i think an exception could be made? perhaps a thread created and updated by CCP which would tell us where is ambulation at the moment and how long before it comes out.
then again this would require a certain amount of resources which could be spent on ambulation...though i would be a much happier demigod if i would know WHEN will i be able to gaze upon my awesomeness.
