OK, goto your assets, and search for the noob ship of your race, I did this, and had over 30 Ibis just on one account, I have 4 accounts, between them all I had about 100 Noob ships, with zero use, never to be used.
Ide hate to imagine how many Noob ships exist in eve, if we consider that 250k players are in this game and active, and each say on average has just 10 Noob ships, thats 2.5m ships that are doing nothing!
So, we need an option when we dock in our pods, which quite simply says, we see you have no ship, concord would like to offer you a free noob ship, do you accept. Voila 99% of people click No.
This will cut out an insane number of unused ships, and not to mension items which are in the ship, and also on the ship!

So simple, and yet so good! One thing though: you can trash them remotely! You don't even need to be in the same region. No skills required either. So get trashing you lazy bum!

I'd really like this change.
The game should also not only check if I have a ship at the station. It should also check for packaged ships. Most of the Velators I got were thrown at me when I just wanted to fetch a ship I had just bought, which was then standing in my hangar, packaged, right besides my uncalled-for charity noobship.

you dont understand how databases work, do you?
the whole point is that there is only one instance of ship. i doubt you would save 500mb even if you deleted every noobship in the game.

there is only one instance of a ship as such but there are assignment datasets which say which ships you own, noob ships inclusive + fitting data for the noob ships trashing the database. If you extrapolate this relatively little amount of data to all players there may be reasonable storage ressources blocked with that useless data even possibly reducing the overall database performance for a some (little) degree.

Having an option sounds pretty nice.
It could be used to introduced faction issued rookie ships, too.
Would you like to have a new ship? - No - Velator (0 ISK) - Velator Navy Issue (100,000 ISK)
Can you spot the joke? -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

Not really, but I spot an interesting option.
Would you like to have a new ship? - No - Velator - Ibis - Impairor - Reaper

the idea is excellent but not new. But replace the "concord would offer you a ship" with a "you can request concord for a ship"

Read carefull. Noob ships are given by Insurance company, not concord. But still good idea. I don't trash noob ships, several of them are even my memory about some loss... ------------------------------------------------- I am envoy from nowhere in nowhere. Nobody and nothing have sent me. And though it is impossible I exist ¬ Trimutius |

Yes, there should be some sort of option to turn off noob ships being offered. I'd be happier if they offered me a shuttle instead, atleast that'd be useful.

personally i think that you should only get a new noob ship if you do not have the money to buy any other ship

^^^This^^^
And the extra space saved from ridding Eve of unused rookie ships could be utilized for, I don't know...new storylines, better missions, nicer agents, etc.
I support this thread.

Good idea. Noob ships clutter my assets. The option would be nice.
