The other thing the Goons have done is to effectively use spies to infiltrate most likely and upcoming Alliance's in order to get one or more alts into a leadership position so if that Alliance becomes a problemā they can steal, rob or completely destroy said Alliance with a simple click of the mouse. They have become what they hated most about BOB: Boasting Gasbags. Unfortunately the air they expel is usually toxic to their enemies.
No I am no fan of the Goons. I think is it time for other Alliances to join with -A- or even the remnants of BOB to take down the Goons.
Or just admit the truth: You are Goon Pets or live at their pleasure.
I remember about 18 months ago, people were making exactly the same posts about BoB.

EVE alliances are highly instable to begin with. BoB and Goons are rare exceptions (so far) to the typical fate of EVE alliances. Eventually they all failure cascade.
And the current coalitions have been founded on a widespread interest to kick BoB. To that end alliances (and sub-factions within alliances) have suppressed other concerns and set priorities.
Any success carries the seeds of the destruction of such coalitions within. As soon as the primary goal is considered achieved other interests come to the fore.
Any stability on the 0.0 map is an illusion and temporary. The goons themselves can probably not hold together without a clear common enemy - given the size and nature of the alliance.
What the OP is doing is a standard fallacy that humans generally fall for - an assumption that current trends just continue - even though a bit of history hindsight should teach anybody that the only trend that always held true - is that no trend in the past held true.
And please feel free to refer to threads in years past were people wrote about BoB and friends effectively owning the map with nobody to resist them. --- Save the forum: Think before you post. ISK BUYER = LOSER EVE TV- Bring it back! Laptop, NVidia7900GS, Ubuntu 8.04, WINE |

A. Admit as such and ask people nicely to leave you alone for 3 months.

B. Project an aura of superiority and invulnerability, try to meet any probes into your strength at such level to reinforce said aura and build up asap behind the scenes.

Although I don't like the Goonies I'd must admit they are very determined and dictated to what they do. They took over much of 0.0 space and became what the fought against, BoB. Now they have to fight to keep that alpha male spot.
May the best team win.

Hello, angry IRC/ED alt.
You should try thinking a bit more...
When you launched an attack on RA, you threatened it's support to legion of death on the Great War's east front. Like Mittani explained, it could have done seriously Bad Things in the war against Bob.
I have nothing against IRC or ED, but if you threaten our efforts, even indirectly, why should we keep you blue?
Maybe that's why Mittani was able to convince others to reset you, eh?
When Bob and it's allies are well and truly gone, the coalition will break up. It's inevitable. We log to participate in conflicts, not play kitty online.

Edited by: Doctor Penguin on 07/05/2009 16:07:54 There is a theoretical issue, in that the NC, RED, GS, PL (ie all the really big alliances that make up Goon's NAP list) can drop onto your door as soon as you shoot one of them or your pets. That doesn't actually happen. In reality, the defending side generally pulls in more and more friends (of all shapes and sizes, and not all at once) until they win. Aggro got beaten out of WC thanks to friends coming in to help as an example.
It gets to a point where, because everyone is all friends with each other or at least willing to go kill stuff in a NAPed alliance's space, it gets hard for space to be conquered by a non-established power. There are two reasons for this:
1) The Sov warfare mechanics are the only mechanics in the game that favour the defence side. POS bashing is a lot easier for the defense than the offense, because the offense cannot replenish their ships as easily.
2) Space is a precious resource. If an alliance loses their space, they lose everything.
The solution to the former is to find an alternative to POS fights to settle sov disputes. The solution to the latter is FAR more space, or space being far harder to control. ________________________________________________

Unless goonswarm is growing to expand either organically or by sub leasing the space the materials held with in it will not be harvested causing prices to go up and causing more people to poach or capture the territory to make a profit.

The funny thing is that sometime in the future, one of a few things is going to happen.
One..
The rest of eve is going to see delve as "secured" by Goons and friends. Then all the major alliance's/coalitions that are helping them will decide the fight is over, and go home. Then petty politics will rear it's head all over and the support in delve that goons had will be gone... And Kenny will strike.
Or two...
Kenny will realize they need to take out goons, and take the time to infiltrate Goonswarm. They'll bide their time and get into a position where they can do REAL damage to goons on multiple fronts. Split goons from the inside. It's one of the few ways to kill an alliance of this size. You need to attack the base structure that is goons. They've shown that they are able to change individual people at the top with minimal churn chaos. Get people into positions of authority and commit small acts that destroy their relationship with others. Slowly alienate the goons from the rest of their allies. Create splits in thinking inside goon leadership. Widen gaps in already existing personel conflicts. Do just what goons do to others.
Or three..
The rest of eve is going to realize that goons are a greater threat then BOB ever was. Bob came out, did a full frontal attack on a region/alliance/coalition, then turtled up for a few months. Rinse repeat. They very rarely held the space they took for long periods. Goons on the other had want to destroy eve for all.
Personally I'd rather have an opponent who wants good fights, then the one who wants to destroy my pleasure in playing.

BoB stated goal was to control all of 0.0, which by definition detroys most 0.0 dwellers pleasure in playing.

Indeed. Goons are the new Bob.
Not really , the rest of Eve might hate goons for inflating moon ore prices and thereby making everything more expensive for the highsec dwellers.
But from what I'm reading most of the bigger 0.0 alliances except those friendly to Kenny like them.
And if the 250k or so players in empire hates them.. who cares what they do or doesnt do wont impact 0.0 politics anyway.

My guess is that people just wanted BoB out of the picture. So they helped goons, or got out of the way of goons and those helping goons.
Once the death of BoB is largely accomplished, I think we'll see things liven up again. (It's not like they've been standing still in some places anyway).
Also: If Goons can undermine your corp through theft, you'd have lost it to some non-goon-related thief sooner or later anyway.
