No-one bet on today's race, which is pretty disappointing, but being since Wednesday's are generally quiet...
Ah well, the odds for today's race is up now, so have a look-see.
We're planning to do something special for the Finals, so watch this space for more news as to what you can bet on when the qualifiers are over...

Edited by: Ivresse on 16/09/2004 22:12:19 Ki Shodan, may I just say that's one of the strangest questions I've seen someone say. People bet because they want the chance to earn easy cash, hoping that their luck or gambling skill is good enough for them to guess who wins. It doesn't matter if the results are random, the fact is, if they're right, then they win money, and ultimately that's the point. Isn't it that obvious? ---------------------

Wrong! People, (especially males) bet because they like risk. The bigger the stake, the greater the risk, the more exhilirating the feeling. The payoff is entirely secondary. Taking risks is hardwired into the human brain and partly explains how we got through the Eve Gate in the first place and totally explains much of the mechanics in this game, (recognise the potential-loss-of-full-set-of-implants heart thumping thing anyone?)
Personally, I love betting, and am absolutely crap at it. I would love it if the devs could find a way to incorporate betting into this officially, maybe by auditing the bookie (not that I don't trust bookies). And 2 mill stakes are peanuts come on lets really bet! When it gets to the final, raise the max stake please, there will be form to go on etc etc and I'll have 70 mil on the favourite yeah!

Edited by: Ivresse on 17/09/2004 06:55:27 Posmart, the reason there's a betting limit is that I don't have the money to pay off 70 mill bet payouts for 40 qualifier races, nor do we want people to exploit the betting by making huge bets and then making sure that the contest is rigged so that they will ultimately win. When we get to the finals the limit will be raised, but don't go thinking that I'm absolutely rich in the billions and can afford to payout millions every race...
And unfortunately, you're wrong. I've worked at a betting shop before, and quite a few people (sad ones I know, but they're still out there) make a living on betting, they do it purely for the chance of getting some money, they don't give a damn about the risk, so don't tell me that I'm purely wrong when I know a lot more about betting than you think you do... ---------------------

Glad to see gambling has made it to eve.... Had started to think Eve wasn't like real life.. heheh
Is there any chance of seeing past race odds and who won ..? (i know the winners can be seen on the events page but would like to see odds..)
I know this might be a fair bit of work so if you'd rather not.. is ok..
Thanks in advance

Btw guys, sorry I haven't posted the odds for tonight's races, but I had a very physical day yesterday, got back home at around 11:30 pm my time and was far too tired to organise any odds for two races...I'll try and sort them out when I get back from work, but I can't guarantee anything...

Edited by: DUI BET on 17/09/2004 18:37:28 Apologies for missing the 1st race tonight, work got in the way...
However, I have gotten back in time for me to do the odds for the Hyasyoda race, although I haven't been able to determine the 'number of survivors' betting. Hope you can place your bets in time...

i hope you did not take my question to seriously! i was a bit fustrated, since my PC went down, and noone want to swap with me. luckyly, i could organize a new mainboard, seems to be running smooth, i hope that will work out for the qualifier.

K, after some 'errors' (namely getting drunk at a wedding party over the weekend...) we're back. Sorry bout the lack of gambling opportunity, I try to minimise these as much as possible...
Betting odds for Monday's Suukuvesta qualifier no. 3 are now up. Place your bets people.
