I'd like cloaks to see a bit more versatility. But also, I'd like to see a bit more of a drawback to them. I came up with these ideas. No, this does not fix AFK cloaking, but rather improves upon combat deployment.
Upon activation: * Cloak requires and depletes 33% of total capacitor energy. * Capacitor recharge and shield recharge are halted. * Most local modules can be activated at double capacitor cost. * The following local modules can not be activated: -Cap injectors (These would bypass the cap restriction.) -Smart bombs (The reason is obvious) -MWDs (These rely on warp drive, which is inactive while cloaked. ABs are OK)
* CovOps cloaks remain as they are today, but also allow local modules (including cap injectors and MWDs) to be activated at double cap cost.
Further ideas are welcome. Criticism is also welcome. Trolling is not. ____________________ CCP: Catering to the cowards of a cold, harsh universe since November, 2006. |

I'll just say what others will say:
No. Cloaks already have enough drawback to ships not designed to use them.

I'd love to fire my T2 arties while cloaked, even if my zero cap consumption is doubled
But yeah... cant really see the need for this since cloaked ship isnt really hidden anyways as long as local is the way it is.

If you haven't been to SiSi lately, let me let you in on a little secret. Cloaks are about to get a MASSIVE nerf. MWD+Cloak trick is gone.
However, with these changes, a pilot can use an AB, repair their ship, and prepare for battle while cloaked. Granted their cap will have to be used very sparingly while cloaked, it will actually be a boost overall.

Firing arties while cloaked wouldn't be activating local modules, now would it?
Anyway, as for the local issue, these changes aren't proposed to address this, but rather to address combat utility for cloaking devices. ____________________ CCP: Catering to the cowards of a cold, harsh universe since November, 2006. |
