Edited by: WheatGrass on 09/05/2009 18:21:23 It is preferable, if possible, to allow bug reporting from within the game. I would like to see in-game bug reporting incorporated into the Help (F12) tool, please.
Recently I created a petition for poor spelling and punctuation encountered when looking into a Serpentis outpost. Upon arriving, the following appeared in local chat:
- Patrol leader to HQ. Our position has been compromised, send immediate reenforcements!
You will regret that! Damn it! We're to late, kill the interloper or the Commander will have our heads!
Corrected dialogue:
- Patrol leader to HQ. Our position is compromised. Send immediate reinforcements!
You will regret that! Damn it! We're too late. Kill the interloper or the Commander will have our heads!
I was simply interested in getting the dialog cleaned up. The GM who responded to my petition directed me to the bug reporting tool. This earned them an undesireable rating because the original problem was not addressed. The GM appeared to have no interesting in improving Eve. To be fair though, the GM was likely only doing as instructed. No one pays me to improve Eve. So, it seems that CCP would be a bit more appreciateive when players try to help out. Incorporating bug reporting into the in-game help tool would make game improvements more efficient for everyone involved.
(I feel sorry for the folks trying to translate such poor syntax into Russian. I'm sure that, if CCP Abraxas were given a pay raise, he would be willing to help out a bit with spelling, grammar, and punctuation.)

You have got balls when you blame all your problems on CCP Abraxas ...
Just bookmark the bug reporting system and run a web browser in another window. EVE does not have that many bugs to justify a built-in bug reporting system. -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

Something was lost in translation. I'm not blaming CCP Abraxas at all. I enjoy his chronicles and believe he is atune to the need for gramatical correctness -whether it's with English, Spanish, or what have you. :) I actually refrained from pointing out his own grammar issues with another recent chronicle. He would have no difficulty pointing out my own. :)
I still think the idea of in-game bug reporting is worthy of consideration as is giving CCP Abraxas a raise. Unfortunately, I won't be able to assist much with the raise. (My employer just gave me a new contact and there's no raise in it.) "It is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." -Mark Twain |

i support op, and i will tell you why.
i dont use the bug report feature on the website. i have never had to report a bug that required me to upload a DxDiag report. it has always been little stuff like portraits not displaying etc.
im not going to alt-tab out of eve, fire up my browser and write up a massive report just for that.
also, correct me if i am wrong, but doesnt the bug report uploader now REQUIRE you to provide some kind of reference file?
in any case, its a silly system. if you have me an interface, i would be firing off little bug reports about incidentl little immersion breaking problems that dont actually prevent the game from running left, right and center.
as it stands, the only reason i would use the bug report feature is if the game was hardcrashing whenever i docked at a gallente station or something.

I tell you something, too. Not everyone is supposed to use the bug reporting system. If you cannot make the effort to write a full bug report then you are not supposed to use it. The last thing the devs need is a report from a noob.
Bug report ID: 748451 Bug title: "Can I have some ISK?" Bug description: "Can I have some ISK, please? I am a noob." How to reproduce: "I bought a big weapon and it does not fit!" ...
