I guess no one would argue that the current balance is far from the state when we can call things being actually 'balanced'.
Absolution is ok. (well, it's not really, but right now let's focus on comparing it just with the other ships of its class).
The point is to make all the command ships equally useful in day-to-day PvP.
Nighthawk might be OK in terms of PvE, but in PvP it is not. For PvP you really want to have 2 things mounted on it: MWD and GAM. Or at least an MWD while still having decent tank and firepower.
Current PG NH has leaves far too space for any decent setup - you're almost bound to use RCU II just to fit essentual stuff! Any other CS can be fitted just fine with the base grid it has - well, there might be issues, but believe me they're not even close to those of NH. And you even don't have an option of using your rig slots to add up some grid, cause of this: NH has 5 mids which leaves far too little slots for proper tanking and forces you to use rigs to enforce your tank, too. Otherwise the tank of NH is just meh. And what's the point the shield tanking ship has mids and lows in equal number?
Suggested fix: remove 1 low slot, add 1 med slot increase base PG by 120 MW
Astarte. The mighty Astarte...
This ship was fearsome in the era of 90% webs and better speeds, but now... it really suffers for its cost. It is far too clumsy, it's range is pathetic even considering it has a range bonus (lol) or at least sort of it. The aforementioned range is +10% bonus to med hybrid turrets falloff per level - to the guns which base fallof isn't really that great to begin with. Cause, let's just admit it, the main weapons for Astarte are blasters. So this increases fallof by "impressive" 3 km Am I the only one who feels this is just a mock?
Suggested fix: increase base PG a bit, let's say +20...+50 MW remove the stupid 10% med hybrid fallof bonus which isn't that usefull and replace it by the following one: +5% to MWD effectiveness per level, so that @ level 5 MWD mounted on Astarte provides 781.25% speed bonus instead of a regular 625. This will boost the MWDing speed to approximately 1300 m/s and still leaves the option to overheat the MWD and close in quickly.
Sleipnir
Basically it suffers the same issue as NH does: for some weird reason it has meds and lows in equal number while the ship is evidently supposed to shield-tank. The speed tank on Sleipnir isn't really viable anyway so the 5th low is like a hybrid bonus of Dominix - sure it's cool to have one, but is it really applicable?
Suggested fix: increase base CPU a bit so that X-Large SB fits easier, say by 10 or 20 tfu remove 1 low slot, add 1 med slot ---

I have skills only for Absolution and Nighthawk... And yes absolution is ok, though i don't really fly it (in PVE i use Nighthawk/Dominix/Raven and in PVP i prefer interceptors, i'm not effectivly fly in bigger ships)...
Nighthawk is cool for PVE... But for PVP there is not enough mid-slots... And not enough Powergrid to fit a ganglink (though other field CS fit that without problem) ------------------------------------------------- I am envoy from nowhere in nowhere. Nobody and nothing have sent me. And though it is impossible I exist ¬ Trimutius |

Not sure about moving slots on sleipnir, but additional cpu would be nice. Astarte bonus is interesting, but it would still suffer from tracking problems.

well, ive only flown the sleipnir in missions, and then only in a fit that causes pirates heads to explode with rage. my main problem is limited range. the sleip cant hit anything much beyond 40km.
still, thats not much of a concern for PvP, which tends to happen at knife fighting distance.
however i agree the astarte needs love. i popped one with a rifter tackling and an ishtar attacking with drones, and he couldnt even damage us. not a sc****. thats pretty sad.
