Hello everyone! Shiny new forums and all, had to post in it.
So I recently figured out POS/WH mechanics in SiSi. I also trained up my PI skills on TQ, on an unrelated note. I put 2 and 2 together and realized, why not make an alt whose sole purpose is to fuel a POS in a C1 with a HS static while managing some planets and shuttling materials to market? There's ISK to be printed, right?
I say C1 because all WH systems have the same sec status, and therefore should have roughly the same quality of planets for harvesting(as far as I know). HS static because it's easier to haul to market until I have a JF, which is quite a ways down the road.
My questions to you, denizens of the unknown, is what kind of POS should I bring in if its only purpose is to store PI materials? Can I get away with bringing in a Medium? Gallente for Silo storage? Caldari for EWAR? Should I be using a silo for mats? Or a Corp Hangar Array? Would I have to find a completely uninhabited hole? Would you leave a PI POS(med or large) alone in a C1 if it was loaded with EWAR? I don't always post on the forums, but when I do, I prefer posting with my main. |

If you've got no intent of ever PvPing, make a caldari Dickstar with massive amounts of ECM and a few odd guns. |

- Medium caldari POS, - anchor a component assembly array for storage (best grid:storage ratio and no CPU use means you can access it if the tower is reinforced) - 2 or 3 warp dissys and a couple of webs - Some guns - Plenty of hardeners - Lots of ECM - More ECM - You basically don't want to be able to see into the POS because of .. - The ECM
That should ensure no one will really bother with you.
You can leave your scan ship and hauler floating in the shields, no one POS bashes for a hauler and COVOPS.
Your best way to make money doing this would be to use the planets in the most effecient way possible to make ISK, buy the fuel blocks and pocket the rest as profit. Use multiple characters.
If you don't own the POCO's however, it really isn't massively lucrative and you may be better finding a WH corp. - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." -Soviet infantry manual, issued in the 1930's |

Honestly if all you want to do. Is PI, consider lowsec. I've crunched numbers and can make near WH PI profit in lowsec. If you can find a relatively quiet area with pocos and negotiate a decent rate. The benefits being that you have far less invested (no pos to buy maintain and fuel)
Easier logistics. Your PI system is always in the same place.
Overall no greater risk than a WH. At least there is local.
Wanna go on vacation. For a week? No problem let your PI go idle. In a WH you will be burning fuel whether you are there or not.

Why put a pos in that system at all?
I've done ninja PI in W-space, using a prowler ( cloak + scanner). Build P2 and export via planetary launches.
One caracter doing PI and paying 17% tax is not going to cover the fuel costs anyway. |

hahaha, I've always wondered if people actualy do this. Many a time have I caught a hauler in someone else's system and wondered what the hell they were doing there lol. |

As far as picking a system to use, IMO a C2 or C1 works equaly as well. You are unlikely to get seiged in a C2 if you have alot of defense and little on the inside of your POS.
If you dont scan down & warp to your static WHs everyday you will be supprised just how quiet it is in your wormhole. :) |

Well actally, Ninja PI is quite save, when done right. Dont need to access the COs as the launches are planatary - so collecting spawned containers is much saver. Going to high sec and comming back is also quite save, having a covert-ops cloak fitted.

what's the tax rate on a planetary launch? also, isn't a prowler a little tight on cargo space if you intend to haul P2? |

Anyway, this is less hassle then having to fuel a pos.

use a C1 with a large tower filled with ecm. you can use an assembly array (x-l) for max storage. that and a few hardeners are all that you need inside the FF.
large dickstars in c1's are nearly unbeateble. since you cant take battleships or capitals into a c1 its hard to remove them and takes ages, even with tier 3 bc. if you have a pos gunner you can probebly volley a few of them as well and make it even harder to remove.
large towers in c1 are OP, but it can be done atm, so use it |

The others lie to you. There is no need for a POS to PI in Wormhole. You can live in your Industrials with Alts flying your combat ships.
Without the POS shields it is possible to here the whispers.... but to truly hear them you must self-destruct your pod while in wormhole space. Then you will see! Yes!
For a glorious instant the words of the Masters will be heard!

Edit/OT: What he said. You don't need a POS just to do PI. And you mention "HS Static until I can get a JF" You do know you won't ever be able to get any freighter in and out of any C1 static right? |

On my phone so pardon any bad typing:
I understand this, but I figured a JF would be easier to get large amounts of minerals out of deep null or even low sec. Either way, I seemed to have arrived at the same conclusion as Derath. Corp-owned POCOs in low sec seem more likely at the moment.
