Originally by: Back Again After the patch, I have more problems with SOUND. As example, after aproaching an accelerator gate, its sounds don't let me hear anything else and even if I activate it and warp to the mission, the sound stay there, as the accelerator gate was, yet, next to the ship. Workaround for this is deactivate sound and activate again or slide the "world level" to zero and back to the normal position. Can't hear my missiles being launched neither their explosion noise, even if the target is side-by-side with my ship. My system: Windows Vista 64 Realtek High Definition Audio (last drive available)
I have this problem also Vista 64 Realtek audio. If I lower the volume down then up I hear missle sounds. Then they go away. Repeating this gets them back again. Also a lot of pops and static. The pops and static only used to happen before when my hull was damaged.

I have had the issues with corrupt installers, but I think I have found a work around.
It seems like the installer is corrupt some how. The archive is not-
What I did was:
Open installer with winrar, yes its a self extracting winrar archive. Did a test on the archive, and it turned out okay. Then I tried running the installer and again, the corruption.
Then I restarted my computer, opened the installer with winrar again, and extracted all files to a directory, and there were no corruption then.
Now I am happily installing EVE.
This leads me to believe that the selfextracting part of the archive is somehow corrupting the files within.
I experienced the corruption issue on two different machines, one running vista ultimate x64, the other running windows 2008 server x64.
Both with 4 gigs of memory and multiple cores.
Yea.. I posted in the past that it was an installer issue and not a archive issue. Good tip on the winrar, I'll have to give that a go.
The simple solution to this issue, is to give us a alternative direct download with out the crap installer. Just give us a dam zip with a exe and let us install this damn game CCP?
I'm mean jesus how much money could they save in bandwidth alone if we don't have to re-download the full install countless times.

Dear CCP,
The patch went great, didn't have black screens or anything.
In fact, I fixed the problem by going to uninstall in the windows menu and canceled my subscription.
It really got old after dealing with constent client crashes, disconnects, random ship role changes, glitches and other BS that came with it.
Had some fun, met some great people, but really, there are better games out there then this.
Sincerely, Minus |

Great job CCP just paid you for my active accounts $1 US to not play because once again your coders did something stupid. Ok maybe not as moronic as deleting the ini file during the install. Before you whine thats not alot of money then feel free to credit my credit card the full amount per day I cant play because our your incompetence.
Here are my symptoms. Play 2 accounts in sep folders within the eve folder. Patched both. Log in acct checking in on some things closes out acct. Relog to same acct to same acct-crashes giving me an error mentioning corrupt files. Try second account running on a separate file same corrupt file. How do the files magically cross corrupt each other.
Fine I delete the files for both accounts and run a registry cleaner.
Download the file using the installer. INstall it hangs on installing the Direct X files. Try using the DX setup from the installed eve files Fails. Try from a 3 month old new game disk . Fails.
Oldly I can play games I have just fine.
Now I am wasting another 6-8 hours downloading the file without the installer.
Conclusion this ****ing ridiculous not like I am theonoy one having a installer issue. I see no info by CCP in this thread despite it being 13 pages long. If a claim tpo be an undercover Bob spy toon can I get some special treatment?

Edited by: Tamahra on 15/05/2009 07:31:30 CCP please fix those newly introduced sound issues as described below. those are gamebreaking for those who experience these issues.
Originally by: any active shield resist module is emitting such a loud and disgusting sound now, the game has rendered unplayable for me.
The only way to not hear this s.hit is to zoom so far out that you can almost not see your ship.
Its been an issue for frigath es prior to 1.2 (and many people were complaining about it, but apparently CCP didnt read any of it), since the camera is much closer to frigates, and thus the sounds from the active shield modules can be heard much louder.
but now they made them even louder so that even when flying a battlecruiser, its unbearable.
WHAT THE HECK????
Originally by:
same bugs here. battle sounds almost gone when the resistances are on with some rare exceptions. i can actually hear 1 missile explode every 200 i launch or receive. it seems that the sound engine is unable to reproduce some sound effects at the same time (can't really distinguish which ones conflict). it also sounds like that sometimes even the jukebox is involved in the whole mess (when warping through an acceleration gate and the song changes). during a mission, zooming out at playable distances i.e. being able to distinguish your ship from an asteroid, does nothing to diminish the effect. at this point it's almost comical the fact that with one update they resolve some sound issues to create more and new ones with the next. i mean come on...
Originally by:
Pretty straightforward this, often whilst looking at the map with probes on all sound to the left channels will cut out, this only effects EVE and the sounds return as soon as you stop looking at the map. Not a big problem by any means but still a strange one.
It has only started happening to me since the last patch, before then I had never experienced it and I have not altered my system hardware in the intervening time.
Here is my setup:

Oh please, if you have problems with the sound simply deactivate it... just like everyone else. Sound issues might be a little annoying, but they are hardly game breaking. Please refrain from moderating on the discussion forums. |

Players warping away will randomly be stuck in your overview at the same distance as the furthest object already present, even after leaving the system.
It resets when changing systems or relogging, but that's the only ways.
Annoying, allthough minor useful for a log in the sense that you can choose "align to" and a message will prompt "This guy left the system X minutes and Y seconds ago". |

Originally by: Arkaihnen My eve and evemon just stopped working entirely. They won't even start anymore. The exe runs and it looks like it's starting but after the Apocrypha 'prescreen' dissappears it just stops working. No error's no messages, nothing, just an exe running in my register that takes up memory but does nothing.
I'm having exactly the same problem - so I can't even get into to download the new patch. It appears that a number of players have been hit with this problem from the posts on the issues and workarounds forum pages.
The answer so far has been to post in this thread. So any answers CCP please?

I fixed the black screen log-in issue by setting windows back to default settings. I use Game XP to warp speed my PC and when reset back to windows defaults Eve is fine, im going to guess if you use any overclocking program your getting the black screen, try to set windows to default and see if that fixes it. Or try defaults on your Graphics cards.
Hope it helps.

Well I guess I'm not the only one who had to download a 2gb file because of a 20mb update.
Downloaded the thing twice last night and can't even get to the log-in screen.
After a bunch of restarts (after I downloaded and got the "your client is corrupt" message when the files were unpacking), I finally got the thing to install. Splash screen appears, then a "CCP file has stopped working" message and a big fat CTD.
So I uninstall the thing, restart a couple more times and try the install again - this time I get the same "your client is corrupt" message I got in the first place.
Left the thing running overnight to download via bittorrent, and that won't unpack properly either.
There's something very screwy going on here - WTF is up with this patch process, this is just painful!
Why don't the devs stop buggering about with game balance and fix the damn patch process!? Talk about running before you can walk.... and this game is 6 years old!

Originally by: Galahad Cardarn When can I expect to be able to patch?
I have tried all three methods of patching, and all fail.
I have tried the full 2.1 gigs offline installation 4 times now, downloaded with two different browsers, and each and every time the installer complains about CRC errors in the archive.
I have tried rebooting, then downloading+ installing.
Who do I have to kill to get into eve again?
I have the exact same problem. Every method of patching fails including full offline downloads. Happening on two computers as well.
Thx AK

and how do you go about doing that?
On Linux, I add "taskset 2" at the start of the icon execution string.
I tried:
start /AFFINITY 1 EVE_Premium_Setup_88517_m.exe
Which is essentially the same, setting affinity to use the first processor, and I verified that via task manager, it showed up as using only the first processor, but to no avail. Same issue.
/me starts to cry
You might have to also delete the cache files first.

Hey , is this 'running on 1 processor' thing a confirmed fix? It doesn't seem to be for some.
And is ther eon way of making a locked sticky thread with a proper fix in it? Explaining everything to do and locked so that it doesn't get filled up with pages of random comments just like this one.
TBH, I dont see why a thread like this should even exist. Looks like these issues have been around for ages now and there's not even any kind of reply from CCP mods. Have they even acknowledged that there is a problem??

And, yes, I had to deal with this issue also. Here's my experience.

Windows 7 RC1
Docked in station. Press F10 to open map. Initiliasing Map window opens and loading bar goes mad scrolling. All other windows lock and cannot be clicked. Pressing [Esc] closes Initiliase window but you cannot close the map settings window and cannot revert back to the docked main screen. Pressing F10 now does nothing. Only way back to normal play is close game and restart.
