Edited by: Caldathar on 25/05/2009 14:47:40 Returning to eve after about 6 months out hoping to enjoy the game and just lost an 8800gts now completely dead. Started off with screen corruption so I checked the boards and ensured bloom was off made sure I was not forcing AA but it seems the damage had already been done. I donĘt over clock and the case is a decent one with good cooling, never had any issues before loading eve and turning bloom on. Somehow this patch is stressing the card in some way so much so that itĘs killing them. By what I have read the 8800 series is quite susceptible to whatever the problem is.
A statement from CCP would be nice so as to ensure more people out there donĘt loose more $ on dead hardware.
Best Regards

Software should not be able to stress your hardware in such a way it breaks. At least not from a windows level, flasing in other firmware is a whole other story.
Therefor, neither EVE nor CCP is responsible for the death of any hardware and probably excludes themself from it any liability in their EULA. That said, EVE stresses GPU's in ways that isn't "normal" load. So video card designers might not have taken into account the wierd load and provide in-adequate cooling for it.
CCP has made intervall-one the default, which is probably the most they can do preventing overheating issues like this. _

Check to see if you've got "Adaptive Antialaising" turned on. Even with "Application controlled" selected, it'll still turn AA on if you've enabled it. --- Grez: I shot the sheriff Kalazar: But I could not lock the Deputy BECAUSE OF FALCON |

Edited by: Mythrell on 01/06/2009 04:00:40 I'm having these weird issues as well. Usually either the Amarr gate or the True Sanshas Control Tower goes all white on me.
Also everything is in "use 3D application setting".

bloom off fixes fuzzies, but no bloom alas vOv
the biggest change - and ccp might want to make a note of this in a sticky - is that setting interval to 1 cured my rampant hardlocking. this is apparently a very common problem if the goonfleet playerbase is any indication, or maybe we just all fit our computers like we do our rifters
