I've been playing for about a year, and have finally saved up 360 mil.. I feel like i'm playing wrong, i kinda tried to do everything, ya know get the feel of the game, but i still feel broke. I want to mine to make more, and explore wh, and null sec. And then again i want to fight npc's. I always lose in fights i get into, and lose my ships. Is there like a guide to kinda walk you through how to be good? |

Don't fly what you can't afford to lose....twice.
Have a plan for what you do and what skills you train.
360 mil is a bit low for a full year of playing. What are you mining in?
I don't make minerals. I just make ore 20% cooler. |

There's no such thing as playing it wrong. More success or not, but in the sandbox there's no set path.
Best of luck!

Aah, first thing is mining in a hauler, wont make you much because your yield is so low. Is better to mine in a mining ship and dock up to unload, takes more trips, but it is outweighed per cycle. With industry skills and the higher end actual mining ships, you should be making alot more isk. Of course working with a group, that goes up higher. |

You could mine more in a mining frigate, which is far still less than the bottom-rung Mining Barge, a Retriever.
That's less than one bad level 4 combat mission. Heck, you could make more even doing level 4 courier missions.

If you're worried about isk stockpiles specifically, I'd advise focusing on doing w-space diving from high-sec. You'll get almost entirely C1s/C2s so they're technically soloable in a relatively cheap ship you can afford to lose (any BC can take C1/C2 rats with a proper fit) and if there are people living there 90% of the time they won't bother you. A couple hours of work with a buddy can give you upwards of 50M if you're lucky on the salvaging.
More generally, I wouldn't worry about your isk reserve. 360 million is plenty to replace any medium-sized ship at a moment's notice, which is all you really need. I fly mostly cruisers and below so I only tend to hold onto 100M to 200M at any given point.
Also, what enjin said. |

Those above me are right about mining income,
but I personally feel like you skill points are too diversified and that your char is ok at a lot of thing but not really good at something.
I'm less than 1yo and I managed to be in the multi-bilionaire club.
Try to find what you like, and stck to it. Mining, trading, production, missions. all are a good way to make several million per week.
I mined in a retriever for a while and I managed to earn about 30-40 mil per day.
Join a corp that do the same thing you like, they will show you how to be good. |

You should try shooting people in the face. Although it won't make you much isk, it is the most fun thing you can do in eve. http://reduplication.wordpress.com/category/explore-low-sec/ http://reduplication.wordpress.com/category/live-low-sec/ http://mrsnypes.blogspot.com/2010/07/burnt-lands.html

Doing everything means your a mile wide and an inch thick.
Its a better Idea training wise to go on what I call skill training runs. Where you pick a specific goal that you want to achieve and agressively train toward it till your done.
For instance I have an industry alt slightly older then this character but he can do alot. He has perfect mining and refining skills, he has close to perfect trade skills(at least in the trade skills that matter) Has perfect PI skills(which arent hard to get) and has some data core skills.
All of these things were things I didnt train all at once and they certainly werent the first things I went for. First I set my industry alt up to be a damn good mission runner. After that I started branching off into other runs of training that would allow him to make more isk, PI, trade, Data cores, etc. I would always focus on one set of skills till it was maxed out then move on to the next thing. Never all at once.
All of this is done to simply fuel my pvp addiction, high efficiency or not you loose **** or need to upgrade what your flying and that takes isk.
Its almost easier to be a pvp pilot training wise because almost everything you do will be centered around guns, missiles or ship hulls and what ever makes them better.
And yes shooting people in the face is the best. Making isk on my industry alt isnt fun. Its just a means to an end.
So figure out what you want to do, how much it will cost and figure out how you gonna make that moneh. Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.comI Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers. |

As above mentioned:
Don't be a jack of all trades, master of none.
Specialize first before branching out. Means, train 1 profession (mining, industry, missions, PvP, what so ever) and then when you mastered those skills, go to the next profession.
This will make you good at 1 thing before trying to get into the next.
Also ISK, Ships and Skillpoints are just tools to help you achieve what you want. Low SP characters can still PvP, you can have 50bil ISK in your wallet but if don't use it why do you want it, etc.
ISK is nice to earn, but even better to spent on stuff to shoot others with. Ships are the tool make ISK or to kill others. SP just makes you able to use different tools. Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. Neo didnGÇÖt learn Kung-Fu by having it sit in his usb drive.-á If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn't move, poke it with your gun and then shoot it. No wonder why you are making isk in hardcore mode
Kidding aside isk is best made in trading and level 4 missions. |

No words descibe how painful that must be to mine in if your actually trying to make money doing it like that. Even the mining bots would find that painful and pod themselves. Go jump in a mining frig, mining cruiser, or mining barge. Anything really and it will do better, a destroyer would do a lot better than that. Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you. |

That just sounds painful. If you like enjoy mining, get into a Mining Barge and jet can. Yeah, your can might get stolen/ship might get ganked, but it will be much better than what you're doing now. Bonus: you can still use your Mammoth to pick up the cans before their lifetime expires. |

No, just no.
If you want to mine do it in a ship that is designed for it: - Racial frigate with bonuses - Racial cruiser with bonuses - Mining barge (Retriever / Covetor) - Exhumer (Hulk)
If you don't want to mine, then don't
But never mine in industrial ship, they are build for hauling. Mining in them is the worst possible income you can think of (yes, even frigates will mine better). Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. Neo didnGÇÖt learn Kung-Fu by having it sit in his usb drive.-á If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn't move, poke it with your gun and then shoot it. Start trying combat missions, and get into a corp. 10-mill a week from mining in an industrial is probably the most boring profession you can have in the game. |

The question is are you having fun in what you are doing?Do you feel you can do what you want with the isk you have available? IF the answer to both questions is yes then i do not see the problem. Some people like to make money so spend all their time making isk without spending it , others allways balance on a bankrupt yet don' care as they have enough to satisfy their need. |

This. Unless you are measuring your success solely by the size of your wallet, as long as you are having fun doing what you do, you're "doing it right".
As far as fighting NPCs goes - what ship are you using? How are you fit? What rats are you up against? Have you taken the missions offered by the combat-related career agents? |
