In the last Patches were some nice balances come to the Naglfar, so i thought about another long time gimped ship, the RAVEN. After the first missile nerf two years ago the old glance of the Caldari is gone into "Caldari sucks in PVP"
but ive seen on the Testserver in many fights against a Megathron or a Hyperion that most Siegelauncherfittings are gimped only by the small ErnergyGrid on the Raven... so whats about a Raven with only 7 Highslots but a +900MW in Base-energygrid, so it would be much easyer to fit a Raven wich is a bit harder Target for other Pilots.

CPU is always the bigger problem than grid on a raven. Also i like the 2 highslots for extra guns, don't ask to take them away. But in general i agree with you, the raven desperately needs a boost, especially the cruise missile raven.

/checks skill sheet, sees BS5, Cruise 5/Spec 4, and top missile supports.
Yeah, the Raven totally needs a boost... doesn't do enough damage in PVP or PVE. Yep yep yep!
On a slightly more realistic note, why don't we fix things that are actually broken... like projectiles, blasters, the Nighthawk's grid, the Huginn/Rapier/Arazu/Lachesis, or something.

unfittable!

May I recommend visiting the Ships & Modules section of the forums to learn to fit your ships?

Raven is kinda tricky to fit, only real viable T2 fit it can pull off without any fitting mods (using torps, cruises are not that vialbe for PvP), expect a PDU II is a bufferd torp fit. You can only dream of active tanking it viabley with T2 gear + T2 torps :P.
It can active tank with torps if you drop MWD and use named/faction stuff and a cpu mod. one fitting mod I can accept, but far to often anything else then bufferd fuits needs 2 fitting mods, thats a bit too much imo. Just look at cpu uses of the T2 XL booster and the best named, quite the big difference, and 55 cpu on a T2 boost amo is also very steep.
I am not complaining on the bufferd Trop fit tho, that is nice to have :)
But I would like to be ablet o active tank it in small gang engagements, but I can not find a fit that allowes for that without dropping all of its damage to fitting mods, and dropping the MWD :(.

The Raven's overwhelming popularity is a true testament to how gimped a ship it is...

Could not agree more. Powergrid problems? Please, try flying an Abaddon regularly before complaining about powergrid.

I do agree if at the same time my megat will get CPU boost so i don't have to hardwire myself for basic t2 fit, not mentioning anything fancy and usefull. Please resize your signature to the maximum allowed of 400 x 120 pixels with a maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Navigator |

raven needs minor (if at all ) powergrid boost, but it does need cpu boost. especially a t2 fitted RR buffer raven. Another option is to decrease cpu usage for remote shield transfers.

you are taking a shield tanking ship and trying to make it armor tank... fitting is the least of your issues. - In essence, any combat related activity involving damage has been 'speed nerfed' to just take 6 times longer with a predetermined outcome coined balance by CCP. |

He doesn't mention armour-tanking it, and he's right to say that CPU requirements of shield transfers are utterly insane. But are you attempting to suggest that an armour-tanked ewar Raven is a bad idea?

With level 5 skills (no implants) this setup dishes out 1000 dps and has a 110k ehp. I dont see any problems here. If you go with only the shield rr you can fit a turret weapon or smartbomb or neut if you wish. Decent setup if you ask me (besides being shield rr, but that is an inherent caldari issue).
