Please make it so tractor beams automaticaly deactivate as soon as the object being tractored is within 2500km.
It's so annoying having to stop the beam, wait for it to finish its cycle and then activate it again on another object! |

Uh no? then moving ships would have to keep turning the thing on which is more of a pain than turning it off |

Then set the deactivation range to something very low like 500m... There's far more people using tractor beams to pull things that are out of range, than people pulling cargo containers behind like they were chained... |

Irrelevant. You'd be gimping a legitimate use of the tractor beam because you are lazy and want looting to be even easier/faster than it is now. |

Your so freaking self centered that you came up with this idea without considering that some people fly around dragging wrecks behind them while they are being salvaged? Heading to the next wrecks?
U sir are full of fail!
Next time try to come up with features that are awesome for everyone not just yourself! |

I take my salvaging ship running at 400m/s with AB on through places I've previously cleared. It drags wrecks with it and salvages them as I go. In rooms which have taken a while to clear the wrecks can be quite spread out, so this is pretty useful.
Your suggestion would make the way I do things impossible, whereas leaving things as they are simply leaves you as "annoyed". Therefore leave things as they are. |

You can have your auto-deactivate tractor beams as soon as I get a "Gravimetric Pulse Generator" that pulls all wrecks and cans within a 100km sphere to me. I find it very annoying to fit multiple high-slots with tractor beams and be unable to go all out frenzy with salvagers...
Make it a mid-slot item and let it use something like 20 cpu and 5 mw... I'll bet every mission-running ship will use one...
Would also be very nice during a 200 vs 225 people fleet-battle.
TL:DR
No, not going to happen... EVE will not be converted to a "Whatever is most usefull to you"-game. -----------------------------------------------

Too late...
Seriously people, enough with the bashing. Instead of just saying I'm self centered or other crap like that, why don't you post some constructive criticism instead?
I understand that some like to drag wrecks around, and I do too actually. But when the can keeps bumping on my ship because it's too close, the tractor beam should probably deactivate!
How's this then: Deactivate when wreck is in range only when the ship is stopped!??

I often drag wrecks while salvaging them and moving at the same time. If you must have this feature then a seperate mod "Auto tractor beam I" etc would be a better idea. |

Again, no thanks. This serves no purpose other than to play the game for you. Try pressing a few of the buttons yourself.
Also, I quite often drag up to 4 things around too while salvaging. I stop the ship sometimes when I'm in range of a wreck which is quite far from a group of others in order to tractor it in. Once I get a salvager free and am only salvaging 4 wrecks I can then start moving towards another group of wrecks. With your system I'd have to switch on my tractor beams first.
