Edited by: Jadetiger1 on 20/05/2009 14:22:09 Edited by: Jadetiger1 on 20/05/2009 14:21:44 I learned that there aren't many "Trader" how-to's and I imagine it is because everyone's level of trading is different. And if the top traders gave away their methods, then it would cut into there profits. I love it when the pirates try and take down my transports, haven't lost one yet, it gives excitement to an otherwise boring trade run. The simplest way to make ISK trading is buy low sell high and reduce your overhead (through training applicable skills), its that simple.

Give me ships with bonuses to trade skills or give me death.
I think you deserve the second. What comes next, a scammer asking for a ship with scamming bonus ?

I sit in Jita ALL DAY attempting to trade and watching local. I've crunched the numbers and ran every forumla. It is near impossible to turn a profit trading in the current system. My changes would not only make trading a lot more fun but it would also open it up for new players to start making profits.
Thats the problem
I have this magical ship called a freighter, and there was an order for 200mil mins for 4.5 isk each, I saw three jumps from there a sell order of 200mil of the same min for 3.4 isk.
I went and bought, i went and filled the order, i made 200mil in about.. 30 minutes.
Tell me you can make money trading.

As a fellow officer of law-enforcement I would expect a far more truthful answer. It is not becoming of us to lie or bend the truth. How much did your frighter cost you exactly? How often does this magical profit that you made (which no one else is capable of) occur?
Thats what I thought. In order to turn even the slimest of profits in EVE you have to first train up skills in order to both trade and fly some of the biggest most expensive ships in the game. Then you have to spend hours and days combing the markets in many different regions.
When you eventually spot something you can make a profit on you have to fly a ship thats worth 5 times the potential profits in order to make "200mil in about.. 30 minutes." Even if you were not exagerating (which I am fairly sure you are, more like 50 million after expenses and 2 hours to make the jumps) the risk of flying around a billion isk frieghter for such low returns does not stack up when compared to the other professions of EVE!
If CCP wont give us TRADEships with bonuses to trade skills and profits, then at least give us TRADErigs with similar bonuses. Then we could fly any of the regular ships with their bonuses and trade would still be given a boost.

No truth bending, and a freighter costs about 800mil. They CANNOT die in highsec, you would need about 500 BS to suisicde themselves.
Regardless have i made my investment back on the freighter? Well since i use it to bring all supplies to our w-space openeings yes I have made my investment back on it, and while im bored, if you play the market and look at the buy and sell orders, you can make alot of isk. It takes time and patience, watching the trends and sometimes you get lucky and see a 1-isk per min increase in price, you might have to jump 3-15 jumps, but its possible.
Also put an alt in every hub, Rens/Jita/Agil, log in, see if there are any good returns for moving the items, and buy and sell. If there arent enough to fill a freighter a transport ship costs about 150mil fully rigged and fitted, you can stuff 10k of cargo in one with a crappy tank and be completely safe.
So there are ways to make isk, but you actually have to work.

Don't know whether to laugh or cry at this post
The IRL I'm a trader and make gazillions of USD per month thing, what has that got to do with eve, a science FICTION game? How can a ship affect your profits? name me an example IRL of how a vehicle can affect your trading? I fail to see what the OP is about apart from a troll, what realistic bonus would you expect to see for a ship, who pays for the profit margin in your trade frigate? Let me show you an example.
2 sell orders for an Invuln II in Jita IV-4 1 has 23 @ 2,376,961 isk 1 has 94 @ 2,971,201 because of an extra tax of 594,240 isk as the seller has trained up 'TraderFrig' to 5 so your argument for extra profit margins due to skills is fundamentally flawed.
Your solution #2 remove all haulers from the game???? wtf are you talking about??? how does a miner get stuff from the belt to the station, the combat / mission runner get his supplies from the market? you want teleportation brought in instead? get a grip man, why bother having ships if you can teleport stuff, if you can teleport exotic dancers then you can teleport a pod pilot, that would do away with sec-status issues, you could teleport your stuff from a nice safe 1.0 to your low sec home when you're -9.9 and not have to worry about getting WTFPWNBBQ'd by concorde
My little hauler can haul 3,000m3 and will hold 2km/s all day long with an align time of 5.4s so haulers aren't slow, it's a case of the right ship for the right job.
You want to make money from trading then train up skills, build up standing with the station owners and stop trolling in forums saying how unfair it is that there isn't a dedicated ship for traders.
It's not often I'm wrong, apart from the comments I make in the signature, and then I'm often wrong. On the other hand maybe I'm getting confused. ......My head hurts :( |

I own my own espresso machine and mainly deal with bookstore patrons. I KNOW what I am talking about, I KNOW all about the basic and advanced concepts behind making delicious blended coffee drinks and I KNOW for a fact that coffee-making in this game is 100% broken.
IRL we have all sorts of laws and independant[sic] bodies to monitor and control the quality of coffee beans which is why the world coffee supply is as stable and realiable[sic] as it is. However being devoid of these safe guards in EVE it seems to have allowed about 10-12 people to control the ENTIRE market and make it dance to their whims. The only one of which I have been able to identify is the self-styled "Queen of Brewing" Delphi Grendalus.
If you can't see that then I am afraid you don't know anything about making blended coffee drinks

You've commited a non-sequitor. However valid your argument may be in another argument, it does not follow the premise. Stating that the economy has failed, and the cause is that some ships need revision, is fallacious.

Proof: Watch local in a trade hub, how many legitimate trades do you see compared with scamming trades? If legitimate trading was actually profitable no one would be a scammer.
You already have ships with bonuses that directly benefit traders...they are called 'industrials' 'freighters' 'jump freighters' and 'transport ships'.
And you have skills..my god you have skills..that bump your profit margins directly.

Lazy! If the way to make business is easy, then I guarantee the market will broke. The dificulties that make the market to sustain by itself. If you have easy acess anywhere, you canŠt even try to have a decent profit from a build or trade.

Your in JITA you moron! The most overpopulated (mainly by traders) area of the Eve Universe! Most of the deals are already taken there unless you know exactly what to look for. Try the other trade hubs for a bit or moving stuff from one hub to the next where the prices are higher there! I'm not a trader and I've made a fair few million in a quick trip from Jita to Rens and visa versa - and thats with buying from sell orders and selling to the buy orders so all instant cash!
If your not making a profit your doing it wrong. Don't blame the system for that.

It should be plainly obvious to everyone that everything being controlled in this way puts way too much power into the hands of only a few and is bad for the game, overall.
If you can't see that then I am afraid you don't know anything about trading, the market or EVE in general.

Ship Type: Ice Cream Truck
Ship has a 1,000,000m Cargo Bay Top speed is 100km Shield = 600 0% resist Armor = 400 0% resist Hull = 200 0% resist
Ability to setup outside a station and have your orders listed at that station without paying broker fees or sales tax.
***Ship can only be used in .4 and below sec status systems***
