Hey,
I am looking to step into a wormhole corp/alliance, but I was curious as to how mass limits work?
When you look at a wormhole, how do you know its limit and up to what class will allow freighters etc through?
Also, how do statics work (I have never really looked at wormholes at all before); when a C5 has a static C6 for example, does this mean it will generate into a random C6? (So could have some natives in it for fights), or does it literally mean its a static C6 that is exclusive to that hole? |

I believe static means that it will always have a hole that opens up into another hole of that class. Wormhole life is like a blind orgy: a lot of random holes, and you can't see who's in them. |

You know the amount of mass left on the wormhole by doing show info on it. It will show 3 kind of message. Quoted from: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Wormholes
Quote: "Has not yet had its stability significantly disrupted" - This indicates the wormhole is still quite stable, and has over 45% of its total allowable mass left. "Has had its stability reduced, but not to a critical degree yet" - This means the wormhole has seen a decent amount of travel, and has less than 45% of its total allowable mass left. "This wormhole has had its stability critically disrupted by the mass of numerous ships passing through and is on the verge of collapse." - This means exactly what it says. The wormhole has had most of its total allowable mass used up, and has less than 5% left. Collapse is imminent.
Static C6 means that there is always a connection to a C6 system. When the connection is closed, a new connection to a C6 will spawn within a few seconds. A new connection spawns to a random (c6) system though. |

You don't ever really know it's actual mass limit in any given point in time. The wiki states:
Quote:There comes a time in every wormholeGÇÖs life when it will collapse into the ether. Wormholes are inherently unstable, and will eventually collapse. However, wormholes also come in differing varieties of stability and heavy usage of a wormhole can cause it to collapse prematurely. When a show info is done on a wormhole (refer to the picture below), there will be some indications as to how long its remaining lifespan is, as well as whether its stability has been disrupted or not due to the mass of ships traveling through it.
For time collapse:
GÇó"Life cycle has not begun" - This means you've found a wormhole just as it is forming, and it will spawn in a minute or two. GÇó"Probably won't last another day" - This is the wormhole's main life, and has over 25% of it's total time remaining. GÇó"Reaching the end of its natural lifetime" - This signifies the wormhole will be naturally collapsing soon, having less than 25% of it's total time remaining. Collapse is imminent. For mass collapse:
GÇó"Has not yet had its stability significantly disrupted" - This indicates the wormhole is still quite stable, and has over 45% of its total allowable mass left. GÇó"Has had its stability reduced, but not to a critical degree yet" - This means the wormhole has seen a decent amount of travel, and has less than 45% of its total allowable mass left. GÇó"This wormhole has had its stability critically disrupted by the mass of numerous ships passing through and is on the verge of collapse." - This means exactly what it says. The wormhole has had most of its total allowable mass used up, and has less than 5% left. Collapse is imminent.
This page here will tell you everything you need to know about specific wormhole mass limits.
Now as far as statics, that basically means this: If I live in a C2 that has a static highsec wormhole, there will ALWAYS at ANY given point in time be a highsec exit from my wormhole. If I live in a C4 with a static C5, I will ALWAYS be connected to a C5 wormhole. Now, that doesn't mean it'll always be connected to the same highsec or the same C5, but I will ALWAYS be connected to a highsec somewhere or a C5 somewhere. It's very simple, really. If you see Tengus on scan, they are ratting. If you see a shitload of Tengus, the Russians are blobbing. If you see Proteuses on scan, they will be on top of you in about a second. If you see a shitload of Proteuses, the big boys are having a goodfight. |

I use this site to check hole mass, max mass and activity.
I've heard ppl using http://eveeye.com/ but I have never tryed it.
As long as you have control over what has passed through, you should be able to make a fair assumtion of what is needed to colapse the hole.

There is also a limit on the ship mass per transit. Most 3 bil holes won't take anything larger than an Orca. |

Apolegies, this is true indeed. Rule of thumb is allways to check mass ;) |
