I have about 1.5M ISK at the moment which I realise is not much, but I only started playing properly yesterday. At the moment I have been doing the industry missions and felt that was something that would interest me. What should I get to help me along my way? I've had a look but there are so many options it is hard to know where to start.
Or should I save my money to get something better?
Thanks for any help.

Hmm, thing is pirates are taking a heavy toll on my Bantum. One of the missions I need to do basically kills me before I can do any real damage to them.

If you're being shot at, that doesn't sound very industrial to me. Use some of that ISK to buy and fit out a Merlin for combat missions. But keep saving, you will need much more for cruisers and advanced learning skills.

Well it is the epic mission arc that you go onto once you complete the 10 industrial training missions. I assumed that it was an industrial based epic arc but I guess not.
Thanks for the advice.

Going straight onto the Epic mission Arc seems to be a mistake a lot of people are making, so I will just say this; that arc steps up gradually in dificulty and at its end it is much more of a level two mission arc that you will have great difficulty completing in a frigate of any sort. Don't be afraid to drop it for a while and go do some regular level one missions if it gets too much.

Okay thanks. I thought it was a bit hard for what I had available. It was just the first mission that was offered to me after I completed the 10 missions. I'm going back to do the military missions now and possibly the business missions to give myself a bit more cash and some more skills.

Things seem to be much better now that I have an Atron and am just training the last skill needed to use my new Tristan. Thanks for the advice with that hopefully I can finish off a bit more of this mission now.

balance in all things
you need to spend ISK now to do the things you want to do, mission/trade or manufacture so that means a few ships, several mods, and lots of skillbooks that arent free in the tuturial
you also need to save for the things you plan on doing in the future, this basically means more skillsbooks, ships, mods etc etc
always work on the basis if a ship costs $x, you need $x times 5 to fit it out and replace it if it's blown up and still have "working" capital left.

At this point in your game play, I'd suggest running the other two career guide missions as well. EVE Help -> Career Advancement.
The other series of missions will give you other ships to fly, and some more experience at NPC combat.

Ome of the mistakes they make at the end of each of the three tutorial chains is to advertise the Epic Arc without recommending the other two tutorial chains.
Every newbie should do all three, if only because they're some missions that won't just keep getting handed out by the agents you use. While they don't prepare you for everything you're going to do and there are some glaring holes, they are well worth doing for their instructional value and generous rewards.

Yeah. What you should really do here is go back and finish the other two. They'll each give you some more skills and ships as well as some money and teach you a little more about other aspects of the game. That's the reason (or so I believe) why they now have agents from all three professions at each of the schools. It used to be only one agent and one specialty per school and you had to find out where the other schools were to fly over there to get them.
Also, you probably want to be in that Tristan before going back to that epic mission. Since I've not run it - the only question would be if you were looking at a completion deadline for something.

I'd invest it in advanced learning skills, they cost about 4.5 mil each I think but it's the best investment you'll ever do.

There are no completion deadlines for the Epic Arc, that I recall, so there's no rush. And for the poster above me, please read the entire thread before posting.

Yep, I've just done those thanks. Now I have 3.5M ISK and a couple of frigates and a couple of mining ships. I'm just trying to mine loads of stuff so that I can start working on making things I think.

Edited by: Ce Lau on 25/05/2009 13:12:26 I'm not familiar with how comprehensive today's newbie tutorials are but it's always a good idea to follow them to gain a better understanding of what you can do to advance. I understand these days you have career agents to help you on your way, have a look at them. Knowledge really does pay off in Eve!
If you're looking to make money know that it takes money and tbh 1.5 mil is not much. Running your missions, perhaps do some mining comes to mind ; invest the gains back into a better ship/modules. Once you gathered a bit of wealth you may consider trading according the age old recipe of buying low and selling high.
Keep an eye on your skills (obviously). Get the learning ones done asap, mixed with practical ones (to keep the fun in it rather than grinding the learning skills). Better skills means you can obtain better gear and slash your mission time spent on ISK gained in half, simply meaning you get rich faster.
1.5 mil is not too bad btw, for someone who's only started playing properly a few days ago. I remember I was far less fortunate at the time, but then again I was (am) lazy and didn't get the newbie's starting fund ;-)
edit: forgot to mention it's a good idea to join a corp, get some mates to fly with you and help on the missions where necessary, as well as answer your questions.
Good luck and fly safe!
Ce Lau.

this, while you should of course use your money and skilling time for other things - ammo & guns, other low cost skills (guns, mechanic, engineering and electronics skills) etc. Later you will start looking for cruiser size ships (1 above frigates - frigates you will get in tutorial missions pack)
But definatelly keep growing your wallet for Advanced learning skills (18M in total for those 4 important... buy charisma one later) while also training your basic learning skills to necessary 4th level.
edit: keep skilling in balance... it does not make any sense to spend your trial time in learning skills... train also others to enjoy game a bit more ... butonce you will feel that EVE is good enough for you, keep in mind that the sooner you will complete your learning skills the better for you in long time perspective (1+ year) __________________________________ I do it myyyy wayyyy... Edited by: Tau Cabalander on 25/05/2009 22:52:12 I do hope you are using a drone in your Bantam; you can fit only 1. I used a Hobgoblin (thermal), but use the one best for the enemies you are facing. In my experience, the drone did far more damage than I could with starting skills. On missions I'd replace the 2 mining lasers with railguns.
Much much later I realized I could have had a much easier time if I just bought a combat frigate, like a Kestrel, which I've run level 2 mission with.
