Alright, after all these patches, i haven't heard anything new on the L5 missions. First, and foremost, there's a mix of opinions, ARE L5s doable solo, i mean i heard you can do them in a nighthawk or something because of a passive tank. Two, are they worth the time and effort to do them? i.e. the loot, the bounty and the LP? I haven't played eve in a few months so im just curious about the 2 questions i asked, thanks!

The LP you get from them is insane, but the salvage is on par with or worse than your average lvl 4. Agents also tend to give out lots of faction missions. And then, he killed the dog... |

I will say if you plan on doing the mission with just one ship (solo) then its not possible unless you run one of the easy missions.
The profits can be lower than level 4 if you get a faction mission, tags and not bountys. I do them when I'm bored as lvl 4 are not hard at all and lvl 5 are still possible to get your ass handed to you.
But I like to go solo pvp as well so I like pain.

Most lvls5 have heavy neuts.

Edited by: Jotobar on 24/05/2009 09:55:59 It seems like you've allready read the other threads so not sure why you're reiterating, here we go again:
some people solo them in nighthawks or ishtars. Some people use an alt to rep with and by doing this can do a wider range of missions and can do more damage.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that doing them in an group isn't worth the hassle isk/h wise compared to doing alot of lvl4's solo, if you do them efficient with 1 person (solo or with alt helping) I think it can be more profitable if you manage to do it efficient enough.
edit: used to do em in a nighthawk solo, could only handle like 3 types of npc factions, currently training an osprey alt to be able to do a more wide range.

Edited by: Contralto on 24/05/2009 16:45:25 There is a huge difference in difficulty. Angel missions are extremely hard and can break the hardest tank if a slight mistake is made. I have a 7 warfare link alt and a passive Vulture both with max skills, Wrath of Angels broke the Vultures tank and though it managed to warp out intact, the damage dealing Kronos was scrammed and died. No biggie as it takes an easy 7 days to replace but still hurts.
An example of an easy mission is Mordus Headhunters, Its mostly kinetic damage and no Nuets/Nos, so an active tanked Nighthawk can easily tank full aggro. Taking down the swarms of Ravens and elite frigs will take a long time though. Final room has 16 Ravens (1 mill bounties) and 16 Webbing Elite frigs. I have found this to be the best paying mission, it has 40 mill in bounties, including a 5 mill commander that drops a hardwiring worth 25 to 150 mill. 9k m3 loot including several Arby launchers and numerous large Blasters and rails. Can also be farmed for a week so long as you leave one ship alive.
As mentioned above Salvage is total fail, substantially less than most lvl 4 missions. Even the angel missions suck!
Oh yes not to forget the 83k Lp's :)

So if you have a passive tank BS or something and maybe a m8 wit a remote repper, you could do it?

I do level 5s in a Nighthawk + logisitic dominix. I avoid certain painfully slow missions and pick the good ones. On some sansha missions, I don't even need to bother repairing with the dominix. It is all about experience, just like level 4s. I know what to do and how to avoid dumb aggro. Pick the right corporation to work for because you are working for LP.
Oh and learn how to do missions in low sec or wait a few days till you get one in high sec. |

I wouldn't advice doing them solo (one ship), I take a thany and a domi in, but that can only be done with missions without gates. You really need a ship that has a good tank and another one that has good damage.
Yes to the second question, they are worth doing.

I soloed some of them in a Drake (no support ships!) and it took a while but was fun. Ofc you have to pick the missions with care, but it is possible to do some of them alone. |
