i got scammed.its my bad of course but in my defense im diabetic and i dont see so well anymore.i can understand getting getting ganked in lowsec or 0.0 but i was told in my pettition that eve encourages all forms of 'pvp' including putting items on market millions of isk when their value is meerly thousands.a simple cap would fix that.how is that 'pvp'?its not!its stealing!plain and simple.if eve is going to encourage 'theiving' they should include it in a disclaimer!i have been playing this game for allmost 4 years and so has my now 18yr old son.it hasnt been the best example at times admitedly but their have been some really good people and influences also.shame on you eve!shame on you for allowing out and out stealing in this game!

I only made this mistake once, was trying to buy a part for 30k and accidently paid 30M. It sucks, but they get you where they can. This happened t me 4 years ao though, so 4 years of no mistakes, I'm happy.

I wasnt really laughing at either. but i thought it was apparent after the first few days playing that EVE is a cold dark universe. And then, he killed the dog... |

True. After all, this was regulated in the United Nations massively multiplayer online gaming rights conference of 1982, following the decree of his highness the duke of new caimme in 1976, which lead to the foundation of the Massively Online Rights Organization of Nations.

It's financial PvP, and actually could be seen as a more player-oriented form of PvP since it is purely about the cleverness of the player doing the scamming vs the cleverness of the person who is the target. You say it is stealing, but you were complicit in the act - you had to accept the contract. Therefore YOU GAVE HIM THE MONEY. Now I sympathise with your disability, and I agree that Eve's UI doesn't make it particularly easy to see (changeable font sizes, anyone?), but just as you wouldn't sign a contract IRL without reading it, nor should you in Eve. In fact, there is far less to read in Eve's ontracts - just the item and the price. You got scammed - he was smarter than you - man up and deal with it.

There *are* filters in the market window to prevent this sort of thing for the record.
With that said, i wonder what the OP bought... really - In essence, any combat related activity involving damage has been 'speed nerfed' to just take 6 times longer with a predetermined outcome coined balance by CCP. |

how did you manage to put a space between every word, but not the end of the sentences?
also, im sorry that you feel your disability was the caus eof this, but scams are easy to avoid.
if a glance at a contract isnt enough to me certain all is as it should be, take a long look instead.

can someone plz link were it says that scamming is a form of pvp and should be totally free from repurcusions. also the term pvp suggests the ability for 1 player to be able to attack someone by whatever means howether this has the added effect that the affected person can counter this. scamming has no counter... plz dont say read it.. that isnt a counter that is a prevention. in combat pvp you can prevent it by staying out of low sec and not falling for bait traps. howether if you do fall into these traps then you can fight back. you cannot fight bk a scammer in any way at all. so in effect it is not and never will be pvp

Your counter in market pvp is called "Common Sense" and "Brainz 1.0". You can prevent being scammed by checking the contract, by checking the price of the item and by getting feedback from players you trust or know.
You cannot make any system moron-proof, but EVE already offers enough ways to make your transactions secure, but they will never hold your hand. Do your homework and be rewarded, be a lazy idiot, you get scammed.

that is not countering.... that is prevention.
pvp is risk - reward in its basic form. scamming is reward reward reward... zero risk...
to counter something you first have to be affected. once scammed(affected) that is it.. no way of countering or getting your money bk. in combat pvp you counter by fighting bk. if you win you get the reward. if you dont the other guy gets it. scamming is uncounterable

You call it prevention, but prevention in this case is the only counter. The less people fall for scams, the more likely the scams are to die out.
Scams only exist, because there is a target group for them.
Now taking into account that this is EVE we talk about, this target group will never cease to exist, so in a way, scams are not counterable.
But they are still a valid form of PvP, though through a different definition. --------

Your definition is therefore different than is mine. Look over here for example: Wikipedia: PvP
My definition of PvP is that a Player attempt to compete against another Player and is trying to gain an advantage over him. The means on how they compete, I do not care.
Combat in ships, combat on market or contracts or a smacking contest in local, to me this is all PvP. A situation where a player competes with another player, irrespective of the means or the item/asset/value being competed with or about. --------

higlited are your quotes which to me say competition. scamming has no element of competition. when competing you are putting yourself against another person be it in skills or whits etc.scamming is 1 sided.. pvp is 2 sided
quote from wikipedia : where players compete against each other
against each other being the key words..

Highligting back the important part from what you quoted. Scamming is basically PVP with your smartness against the scammers smartness.

you are just not getting it are you. ITS NOT PVP IN ANY DEFINITION
when im combat pvp im fighting bk when im market pvp im fighting bk by changing my prices to beat the other guy when i chat pvp im fighting bk with more chat etc
pvp in essense is fighting bk with what your hit with be it gun against gun, price against price, words against words etc
saying its brains against brains is irelevent. as you cannot counter a scam to your advantage
you can play the market to your advantage. you can train skills to turn the pvp combat to your advantage, you can make any comback you want in chat. all this could lead to reward but have risk.
