Just an idea, didn't find it in search so I figured I'd post it.
Tower automated drone defense hangers. Sizes small (light scout drones), med (med scout drones), large (heavy drones), and x-large (fighter drones). Each holding upwards to 50 drones, but only allowing the tower to launch 5 at a time. Allows limited the auto attack to ship sizes. If frigate engages a pos to burn ammo the tower would only launch light and med drones, and so forth. Also this idea could be implemented to the pos's owner discretion under a defense option in the tower's menu for this ability to all other defenses.
Also had a question why there are no tech 2 defense batteries for a pos?

Well like other tower defense units the drones would have a substantial range increase and dps/spd bonus. Keeping a small grp of players for taking out a large pos by exploiting the lack of tracking spd in defense turrets.

its actually come up once before in the form of fighter bays, and i *still* think its a good idea.
its quite an obvious one as well. all other weapon forms are there, why not drones?
it also open up the possibility for a POS to use ewar not available through standard POS batteries, such as target painting, or omni-racial ECM.
totally in favor.
