My friends and I are looking into buying a control tower but we are not 100% on some of the details with them.
Primarily on the fuel cost and what is under the attributes. Specifically are the "Online" costs part of the hourly maintenance along with the Power and CPU fuel costs?
My thinking is that you only need the "Online" fuel costs while you are bringing the tower online and once its online you no longer need the Enriched Uranium, Robotics, Mechanical Parts and Coolant to keep it up. We priced fuel costs out of Rens factoring a months worth of Fuel with the "Online" costs in the mix and we came up with 522 Million ISK per month for a large Caldari Tower. This seemed a little excessive to what we've been told the normal cost for maintaining a tower is.
We would greatly appreciate if anyone could clear this up for us.
Thank you,
Arklin

Edited by: Caldari 5 on 26/05/2009 18:19:05 The online fuels are just to keep the Tower Online, and not supplying any POS Modules with Power/CPU, based on what POS Modules you have online will determine what amount of Heavy Water/Liquid Ozone you need.

As far as I know, everything but the liquid ozone and heavy water you need every hour on the hour as long as the control tower is online. The liquid ozone and heavy water are dependent on the amount of structures currently anchored and active; those are based on the CPU and powergrid at full capacity. If you are using only half the CPU you'll use only half the liquid ozone, and if you're using 3/4 the powergrid then you'll use 3/4 the heavy water. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Every fuel you listed except for liquid ozone and heavy water are consumed at the same rate every hour. The other two depend on how much load you have on the powergrid and cpu.
550+ Millions on monthly fuel costs seems way too much in my opinion i suggest you check surrounding regions and compare prices(jita for example) this should shave off a couple of millions on costs. My alt runs a medium caldari tower and i pay bout 90M per month +some for courier service. I guess the large control tower costs bot twice as much.
COMPARE PRICES!!

Nice Site, the only feature that I LOVE from MyPOS that your link doesn't seem to have is the Fill POS, to give a list of the fuel required to fill the POS and how long that will last. it is a very handy feature and enables me to have all the fuel run out at the same time/rate :P

Another advantage is that MyPos allows for checking of your current fuel levels through Eve API. Really nice tool!

My small Empire POS costs around 45m per month in fuel give or take a little.
A medium is twice that and large should be 4 times. So if you budget 200m per month you should be OK.

Appreciate the information and after price shopping found that we can get a month's worth of fuel for around 162 Million ISK. So much better than before.
Another question though, can you build small ships in a Medium/Large Ship Array? Can you build T1 Hulls in an Advanced Ship Array?

No and No.
There's no overlap in the ship arrays with the exception that the X-Large array can build everything the Large array can. All the other ship arrays only build their specific ship types.
(ie small for frigs/destroyers/fighters, medium for barges, haulers, cruisers, battlecruisers, large for BS's / freighters / orca's, XLarge for everything the large does + dreads / carriers / rorquals. Capital for motherships and titans.)
The advanced arrays only build the T2 versions only have 1 slot each, and are subject to extra wastage so they're not particularly popular.

1. ONLINE fuel is to keep the tower ONLINE. If you remove even one of these fuels by accident and your POS cycles, it will immediately go OFFLINE / ANCHORED. Then you will manually have to bring everything back online 1 by 1. Be sure the people touching your fuel bays understand this. 2. Each array build the type it states, you don't by the largest array and work down
3. As others have said, shop around. Fuel for a month is bare minimum to have. Go for 2-4 months already staged up. If that amount is going to break your wallet, then don't go for the POS. Its just going to cause you more strain then you will want.
