Yes...the truth hurts when you say it out loud. You'd rather they continue to blow smoke up your ass?
I like the game. I don't like devs over-hyping upcoming updates. That's what creates the cynicism.
I agree completely. My frustration over the Faction Warfare debacle isn't that they aren't fixing it fast enough, its that they keep mentioning it, than refusing to release any details. Players at this point feel like they're giving feedback to a brick wall.
It'd be a lot easier if they just said, "we're too busy right now, maybe in the future...." instead of mentioning it in a list than not following through or even talking about it.

I spoke to Team BFF who own this feature and as I suspected, an ETA is hard to get right now for the exact same reason that ETAs on other feature have been hard to come by in the last couple of weeks. You see....we're planning. BIG time! And we basically can't wait to tell you more about all that. But right now it's hard to give substantial information about specific features so I'm just gonna bite my tongue and keep you all in suspense for just a LITTLE while longer. Sorry about that :P *bites tongue* You guys say this ALL the time. It has yet to live up to the hype. EDIT: 50% of the BIG things get pulled prior to patch. 30% make it ti Sisi, but not TQ. 15% make it to patch notes, but then get pushed off for unforeseen problems (eg this thread) never to be seen again. 5% make it to TQ bugged. Leaving us with maybe 10% of the original plan making it into the game. Not to mention the things that break as a result of that implementation. Stop talking, start doing.
Clearly you have not worked in a software development role before.
Believe me, it always seems easy but when you get down to the code, it takes longer.
Then comes testing - whereby you have to make sure you didn't break anything.

The BMs in overview feature was not an "offhand comment". It was a promise made by CCP Soundwave back in the spring of this year. This was touted as an important item of one of the team BFF signature patches, somewhat delayed due to 'stuff' at the time.
I remember it being mentioned, I did not remember it being promised... at least not promised to be delivered within a specific time frame. You could very well be correct, it's been awhile.
The post was in response to someone pretty much going off the deep end, making wild accusations and generalizations about a lot of things (not just the bookmark issue)... so I'm going to stand by the point I made. To kill the enemy and break their toys!
It's not so much a mission statement,-áit's more like a family motto. |

It was in the patch notes for a May 2011 BFF patch. Then it was removed with a "will be added in a later patch" explanation from Fallout; and that's when CCP Soundwave added that they are "fixing it as we speak though". Pretty much a promise.

In that particular case agreed. To kill the enemy and break their toys!

You pay a private company for game time. They use the money for lots of things. One of those things happens to be developing things for you. If I remember correctly the money that you gave them went to CCP people who moderate the forums. |

Not empty bumpin'.
Ranger1, I agree, a lot of people conflate 'proposed features' with 'promises'. The trouble is that CCP has had the bad habit of giving out a list of features in development early on, then some drop, then some more, then more still. What we end up with at the end, in the published expansion, seems like pretty thin gruel.
Crucible, on the other hand, is an expansion with excellent advertising. A couple of features haven't made the final cut (assault frigs being the one I can think of) but lots, and lots, and lots of stuff appears to be on Sisi right now, and even in functional, working condition.
Anyways...CCP Guard! I summon thee! Go fishing please! We hunger for updates! |

The list of 'promised vs. delivered features' is really, at this point, appalling. CCP could make entire expansions of the 'left on the drawing board features' that never made it in. Stuff that the playerbase was really, REALLY eager for (and some not so much, but still). Also I'd like to re-iterate my position now, which I might just make into a sig, that the proposed null-sec revamp is fine, dandy, great, whatever. But within that re-vamp, low-sec should be included and have distinct characteristics/activities assigned as well. Otherwise it will be left as it currently is - a broken area of the game with the worst attributes of null-sec and high-sec combined.
I agree, and they should name the patch Crucible.
