From forum description: A forum for player created tools and applications, including those based on the EVE API. ..................................................

So, point me to two threads (other then the remote desktop thread which might be better suited in feature/idea discussion / game development) in here that don't have anything to do with either a third party programm or the development of a third party program. _

This is just from page 1 and I could go on but there is no reason. (To the thread posters, this is not personal. I just think they are misplaced) http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1087172 http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1083481 http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1081267 http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1061629 http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1087115 http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1083640
Non of these threads are about publishing applications which is how I understand the forum description. ..................................................

Edited by: Sleepkevert on 03/06/2009 15:14:56 Then I think you are understanding the forum description wrong.
Quote: EVE Technology Lab A forum for player created tools and applications, including those based on the EVE API.
This tells nothing about the state of those applications, wether it's publishing, discussion or testing of those. As for nothing to do with third party apps, you have to understand that development of the third party apps is also a discussion point here, as well as people searching for a certain applications. Third party libaries (like the one about C# class or xml) is also discussion to write or enable third party programs.
Basicly, this forum is the tech corner of the EVE forums, software development (EVE related offcourse) and discussion about problems / bugs regarding software development. As well as publishing those finished applications.
Though I agree with your point that searching for tools and applications is quite a challenge if you don't know the exact names of the applications. An idea might be to start an wiki page with 3rd party software. I just did a quick search there actually expecting one, but I don't think there is one yet. Should not be too hard to make a start on that article, and hopefully other people will add their own findings.
A search into the relevant forum section (for skill related software look into the skills section, fitting: ships section, etc) might also wield some results for now, though I agree it's far from ideal.
Edit: actually found a catagory on the wiki for 3rd party apps, while far from complete, it's a start. _

Ah I see your point. Just goes to show how the same words can have so different meaning. I guess my understanding was founded it the annoyance of how hard it is to see what apps are available. The wiki idea is great. Let's hope others see the advantage of it. Thanks for the talk :) ..................................................

I hate to point out the top sticky thread on this forum here because everyone knows no one ever puts anything useful in them and you never want to look at them of course for things like listing of applications and libraries for the APIs or links to other resource that might be useful to someone developing those things. We of course need to do it all again for at least the fourth time somewhere else instead of all the developers simple making sure they have been include in the first three locations. At least 2 of the locations are wikis that list the software in several different ways like programming language and if they are libraries or an application and if they cover the whole set of APIs or a limited area.
This post may seem some what harsh but it seems someone brings this up about once a month that we need to re-invent the wheel again somewhere else instead of clipping off more of the square corners on the ones that already exists so they can become better.
Anyway that's my 0.02 ISK worth -- Finds camping stations from the inside much easier. Designer of Yapeal for Eve API.
