Last night while I was hanging around in space I got this idea about Jovians or possible other kinds of NPCs interacting with the real players.
All we are doing atm with NPCs is shooting them in belts or doin Missions for them, .....
How about an NPC race (Jovians, ...) that goes for the real players. I thought of this. Imagine those NPCs could open wormholes to any place in the known Universe. If so, the gate to this system will be closed, so nobody can escape from the system. They come in like a swarm and kill each and everything. Ships, POSs and YES Outposts.
I mean it really doesnt matter if it is highsec, lowsec or 0.0. So those attacks are on a random base and may take place once in a month to one system in eve. And you can do **** about it.
They just come in and kill and destroy everything.
And yes if it would happen to me so be it and I'll lose everything in this system.
As I said just an idea born in the middle of a normal night infornt of this PC.
I mean one dead system per month isn't that much.

I really need to know... What does this actually add to the game? Randomly killing a system in and of it self is merely sadistic and pointless. ---------------------------------------------------

Edited by: F0ssa on 03/06/2009 12:58:43 The point is that NPCs are dead meat atm. Why don't use them with a good AI to make life in space a bit more interesting. Just have a look at the map, in one year I think every system, at least in 0.0, will have an outpost. The game gets to easy and boring.
But it's your opinion and I'm ok with it since this is a place to discuss ideas without flames.
Oh one last thing, I don't think every addition to the game should be ment to make life easier for players.

Making NPCs actually form up and fight would be interesting yes, but most people would just get the needed firepower and make a killing. And I really, really doubt you'll see a mutibillion isk outpost in every 0.0 system ever, much less by the end of this year. ---------------------------------------------------

Edited by: F0ssa on 03/06/2009 13:05:07 Seeing a handful of them added to the game every month I'm not that wrong. Isk doesn't mean that much any longer in this game. There's lots of it outthere.
Maybe you should get the chance and be able to fight them with the needed firepower. But I'm not sure about it. Since it's just one system and they don't wanna go for your space.

Aside from NPC bounties being a raw isk faucet, yes... And it would mostly (Depending on what the npcs are using) would favor larger groups with super caps and the ilk. What I would like to see is the NPCs using their vast wealth and entering the arms race proper. Dreads, carriers, maybe some of the officers in motherships. ---------------------------------------------------

Sounds ok, to that I'd like to see them using wormholes entering your space. And why not, let attack them POSs and Outposts just like real players do.

Because that's the job of real players, not npcs. And then, he killed the dog... |

Quick question, mostly due to you being in SWA still, have you ever ventured into 0.0? ---------------------------------------------------

Just randomly decide to wipe out every one and everything in any given system every so often with no player recourse. No thank you. :)
I'm trying to imagine the day this happens to Jita.

Edited by: Nitemare111 on 05/06/2009 22:20:00 Howzabout a one way (players can't enter) wormhole opens in some hisec system, and a message comes out:
"You have ## days until we arrive. Make peace with your gods, and prepare yourselves. We will take this system for our own."
And, in ## days, a Sleeper fleet begins filtering out. Frigates for the first couple of hours after DT, then some cruisers, then BCs, then the BSs start out. Maybe even a few dreads or carriers. Anything in the system except gates is a target. Customs, local Navy ships, Concord, players, even NPC stations.
If players manage to defeat the day long invasion, the remains of the Sleeper fleet go back through the wormhole and close it behind them. If, however, the players cannot stop the invasion, for a period of one week the system is closed down. No docking at the stations, gate and station turrets open fire on everyone but Sleepers, DED complexes are shut down, and Sleepers everywhere.
Everything goes back to normal afterwards.
P.S. just imagine the Sleepers taking Jita for a week. Hilarious!!

though players in order to take space form someone they need to attack them. Npcs should be able to do the same thing this will make LARGE alliances scale down their space, making easier to protect, and I prefer this 'feature' to only effect 0.0 space. making players Defend their space, if they can kill their enemies, they should be able to handle Sleeper invasion. to be realistic, we are invading their space, why can't they do the same to us?
as long they can be defeated and only attack 0.0, I support it.
-Edit and able to attack Jita once.. What ever you do, DO NOT, for love of god, do not use that smartbomb |

First off this will NEVER, EVER, EVER ever ever ever happen in high sec. I mean, the point of high sec is to be, well... secure.
I kinda like the thought in 0.0, but there's already too many problems with 0.0 First off, the people who make money in 0.0 are corp and alliance leadership who farm moons. Everyone else gets to rat or mine, which does beat level four missions if no roaming gangs come and make you dock or you're not competing with 1000 other alliance mates. Yeah, never.
So you're idea makes it tougher to live in 0.0. It'll drive people to high sec, and 0.0 would have to somehow be made more profitable to offset. If you make it more profitable, players will fight over it... if players are fighting, you don't need NPCs to make wrecks out of player ships.

i'm not sure if its still in game, but there were these missions in highsec as well that caused rats to attack the questgivers station, no concord intervention and the waves that came in were pretty tough... :D I'd like to see that back again. --------------------------------------------- Somewhere beyond happyness and sadness, I need to calculate what creates my own madness o/ |
