For anyone who has not seen this film i would go see it. Action Packed from Start to Finish.
Few Mistakes in the Film One Being the Start He Looses his shoe and then has his Shoe when walking away - you'll see when it happens.
Also for those who have seen it - Does the BlackHawk at the end look a little similar to the Ishkur?

This movie was a waste of time. There is no suspense. You know Kyle Rees will be saved, because he already has been. The only interesting character is the robot-who-doesn't-know-he's-a-robot but he sacrifices himself for no particularly compelling reason and that's the end of that.
Bottom line: if you likeaction movies with giant robots, go see Transformers. If you are a fan of the original Terminator, don't go see this movie, it will **** you off, just like Christian Bale.

And if you would like to be entertained at the movies sometime, Night at the Museum 2 would probably be a better bet.
*****SPOILERS***** (Oh wait, I can't really spoil this movie, it's all ready rotten.)
I liked some of the robots and animation (I loved the motorcycle terminators - bomb!) But the story line was garbage, the writing was garbage, and even some of the action was too scripted and garbage. I mean really, SkyNet lures the main two enemies into their main building and all they have to kill them are two Terminators? (2 T800s right?) Really? There are conveyor belts of terminators being built right there the whole time - I was so waiting for one of them to activate right off of the belt!!! That would have been dope! Or SkyNet could have simply nuked itself and took that one hit of the factory to get rid of it's nemesis and his father. Right? A computer cares not about some loss if it can gain the most from it, I would think.
And why does the Arnold Terminator destroy the other T800 who was going after Kyle Rees? On the whole, F*****g LAME!
PS Oh and trust me I was looking forward to this movie I have a serious man crush on Christian Bale - but he did not deliver anything other than sh***y lines. --- Am I being targeted, wait, ahh, my shields, s**t my armor. Why won't it warp, it's not responding. Warp to zero! Damn it my pod too?!? F*****g lag! [lesson learned: log for lag] |

i went and saw it
as you can see, it's not what most people would consider a top notch movie, but the special effects were definitely grade A and the action was constant and well done
as i told a corp mate, i don't go see TERMINATOR for the subtle plot ploys and character love interests. i wanted robots and **** blowing up, and that is exactly what i got. in that regard (what it aimed for) this movie didn't disappoint. ---------- Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the filthy mother*****r |

Yeah it was a bit sad really that t3 ended up being better than t4
Totally predictable plot from the outset, especially if you had seen any sort of trailer or even a poster for it.
And yeah the vanishing/reappearing shoe at the start and the old lady/disappeared old lady at the end was pretty silly |

Film was bleh... 5/10 being average i'd give it a 4.
Whole Skynet plot was riddled with so many holes it wasn't funny. I did try to just gawp at the effects and disengage any logical thought. Essentially i couldn't.
Skynet hunts tirelessly to find and kill John Conner it lays out a whole elaborate plan. The scene were John gets close to the enemy stronghold to check the signal. Skynet could have killed him right there if it had wanted too. Skynet central is defended by one terminator?
When I think about what happened in the movie it was VERY little : / And then it ended it with the cliche "We have won the battle but not the war" Groan |

The easiest way to appreciate this movie is while high.
One spliff and you wont care about plot or things making much sense. It's all about the pretty explosions and loud sounds. Kinda like the new Star Trek movie.
Or you could try to not go into a action movie expecting stuff like a 'plot' to work it's way into all that busyness.

Edited by: Mavrix Able on 07/06/2009 22:58:07 I just returned from seing it and thought I'd might find a post about it here:
It sucked ass...
Two thing were cool: How they robot and protagonist suddenly had changed places in the truck vs bike scene from T2, and how much the setting reminded me of Fallout 3, I really felt like howling "Aaauuuuu! This is Three-Dog..." during the city scenes.
For the rest:
SPOILERs:
-What is with the super dodging motorcyclebots that can track and avoid multiple flying objects, getting taken down by a rope across the road? -Why did they spend two (or was it three, t3 is a bit fuzzy in my memory) movies trying to kill the mother, whilst not curling a hair on the father (Kyle Reese)? They obviously knew who he has as he was number one on their to-do list. -Why do doors for robots have buttons? -Why do robots use retinal scanning when they have cameras for eyes? -Why do you place your mind controlling chip on your super armored new nber robot OUTSIDE the protective plating of say a scull or just a box somewhere? -See above on the heart aswell. -Why are robots, with the technology to track and trace objects hurled trough the air, unable to track and shoot running or driving targets at medium range? -Why does a prison guard robot wear a bandana? -Why can't roboworms, fast enough to punch trough the hull of a helicopter and still fly inside, not catch up with a man swimming fully clothed? -Why didn't Connor test the mind frying device on Marcus, as they obviously believed that all bots where guided by that signal. -When the liquid metal was just dandy for taking care of the t-800 Arnold bot in t2, why doesn't it work now? -Alright, its future nuclear fuel cells, but still... wtf?
You have already mentioned the suckyness of Skynets overall plan to kill John Connor so...
I can live with a lot of less than stellar things in a movie, but continually failing internal logic really puts me off.
2 seperat people even walked out on the movie.

this movie made me sad
it started of good for 30mins then descended into a movie where I had to either  or laugh/cry. It seemed way too 'comic book villain' for me with skynet taking the time to explain their evil plot and how they needed to dangle kyle reese as bait to lure john connor there (where skynets comms protocols and security is laughable for a automated installation which uses retinal scans to open doors (lulz). The epic battle between a t-800 and john which decided a chokehold was better than ramming its arm through his chest like usual in the previous terminators to extend the fight sequence.
...and then there was the last scene which made me cringe so much . A terminator with a heart instead of a good old mini-reactor (convenient). The main character in need of a heart and the amazing ability to perform open heart surgery out in the middle of a desert in a tent which was quite amazing.
this is another prequel trilogy deal same as star wars had. I can only hope the next two sequels they have signed up to do already learn from these mistakes.

I liked the movie except the holes in the plot. One more problem with the plot that hasn't been mentioned yet was that Skynet could have just killed Kyle Reese when it got hold of him. That should have ended the whole thing. At least thats what John Connor says. We can't bomb them, if we kill Kyle Reese we are doomed. Good thing Skynet didn't figure it out.

This point really made me wonder about the issue. The first thing you think is, that this is what skynet obviously should do. But I wonder, if that is the case. The first terminator was sent back in time when skynet had already lost the war. You could argue the tech didn't exist before, but maybe it was because changing the past was something skynet didn't want to do.
My thinking is, that skynet wanted to first and foremost win the current(in the future) war. It is sort of like a unique personality, that wants to preserve itself. In the first movie it retaliated when humans tried to shut it down and this caused the judgement day. This was changed in the third movie, but it changed a lot of things.
From this perspective changing the past would also wipe the current skynet from existance. The skynet from the other timeline would not be the same. So for skynet, wiping the past is a desperation move. What is more important is to make sure the current timeline skynet wins the war. From this perspective killing John Connor takes priority over Kyle Reese. Skynet is trying to escape its fate by every means it can. If it fails, and its destruction becomes inevitable again, it goes for the reset and try to alter the preconditions in a way it thinks might alter the outcome.
Or the plot of the movie has horrible plot holes and I'm just rationalizing the swiss cheese plot. |

Average.
The mirror gave it three stars, id rate it middle of the road the same.
Id seen the disapointed people reviewing the film, but i was still stoked about going to see it anyway, they were right, i was right... glad i went to see it, but only 50 percent there, lacked 'something' Plot holes aside, i walked away unable to wonder what that something was.
Maybe arnie, maybe it just wasn't T2 judgement day.... the untouchable blockbuster that did it 'all' right at the right time and moment. ______

The something it lacked was Connor failing to tie up the bag as to why Kyle Reese was so important if the future truly wasn't set? I know, the correct answer is none of them are but the guy's his father.
Marcus having been human once and not straight terminator opted for a second chance to make things right, so his sacrifice very much made sense.
What I found lacking was communications scrambling, they just radioed out in the open to anyone with a reciever and uncoded, what are they, germans?? No **** the sub was found when they had no relays to speak of, at least that was depicted.
Also the movie could've used a few pointers as to why the rebel base was able to run floodlights and blow up half a minefield without the HKs honing in on it.
There's probably more I thought about when I saw it. They could've used some military tactical personnel as advisors that's for damn sure! Or just anyone who could put themselves in the situation, like say an actor, to question the thin script.
Should/would/could have, HAVE you chav!

I wouldn't say this movie blows, but I will say it's the least great of all four movies. Great, but not the greatest of the four.
And to be honest, I couldn't give a crap about Connor, the resistance, or any other character.
