[Harbinger, Sniper] 7x Heavy Modulated Energy Beam I (Microwave M) Drone Link Augmentor I
10MN Afterburner II 3x Cap Recharger II
Medium Armor Repairer II Adaptive Nano Plating II N-Type EM Hardener I N-Type Thermic Hardener I 2x Heat Sink II
2x Capacitor Control Circuit I
So I want to move onto lvl 3 missions and I was considering the above setup for a Harbinger. Any good? Can it handle lvl 3s like that? Should I go for a Prophecy instead?

Edited by: Tesh Sevateem on 04/06/2009 09:54:47 That setup will work fine. I do L3's in a Harbinger without rigs and with really crappy skills (about 112k in Gunnery). Then again, I tend to pass on those giving more than 2x 500k reward/bounty as they involve battleships (me no like!).
With proper skills, and with the setup you linked, you will have no problems with L3 missions. I must admit that on some missions, even with 3 or 4 specific hardeners, I've had trouble keeping up repairs with a T2 repper. I guess that's because I take too long killing the enemies.
*edit* Regarding the Prophecy, no. Numerous topics here on the forum have convinced me that the Prophecy only excels as a high EHP bait ship.

That fit looks good. Keep a batch of Gamma crystals in your cargo to switch out for closer ships. Also you might want to drop the drone link and adaptive plating for another heatsink. Never found a good use of the 8th highslot really, so I had a small remote armor rep in there to keep my drones in working order. -------- Ideas for: Mining

Not a bad idea about the small remote rep, I just threw the Drone Link in there so it wouldn't be empty.
So that would be 3 heatsinks then, but is 2 N-type Hardeners really enough to tank lvl 3 missions?

You can control the range pretty much with the afterburner and the sheer amount of damage you can put out will get the incoming dps down pretty quick. Wrecks don't shoot. Just keep the hardeners specific to the NPCs you're fighting. -------- Ideas for: Mining

Alright then, should I avoid the hardcore lvl 3 stuff though, like blockade or in general missions with battleships among them? Or will this generally melt anything?

You should be able to complete everything with that, just keep moving so you don't get swarmed by all the baddies at once. Like in The Blockade, fly towards the groups and dispatch them one by one instead of waiting for them to reach you in one blob at the gate.
Until you get more used to the missions and the ship, I'd propose to blast away all scramming frigates, either from a distance on approach with the beams and microwave or with the drones. Should you get into trouble you will be able to warp out and if necessary drop heatsinks for greater tank.
It's fun to fly the Harbinger and just melt through the missions. -------- Ideas for: Mining

I never did a an isk / hour comparison, but I do like using the Amarr Navy faction crystals for a bit more DPS.
