Something that popped into my mind just now really;
We all know most cap ship pilots (and non) keep a cyno alt with a disposable ship. Reason is that they're cheap to replace when getting killed, which will most likely happen alot.
The recon ships are the ones with a bonus to duration which cuts cynotime down from 10 to 5 minutes. 5 Minutes being stuck in an expensive recon ship is still way to big of a risk even with one or more caps just jumping through. Hence people will have no real incentive to use anything other than that cheap alt. I'm excluding hotdrops by tanked cyno ships from this for obvious reasons. Since the introduction of covert cyno's they ofcourse have gotten a small improvement in usability but not by much since it's a very limited shiprange that can actuaslly use a cov cyno.
Proposal;
Give recons the ability to open and close cynos at will.. Go to whatever system you need to get the cap(s), decloak and open cyno, cap(s) jump through, close cyno and cloak up again or dock or whatever.
This is in no way meant as a boost recons thread but i just picked recons since they have the role already. It will also not make them overpowered all of a sudden but just gives some usefullness to the actual role description/designation. God knows i haven't used my recon as anything other than a scout/small hauler/overglorified tackler though... ___________

Signed, this would bring the "Cost Effectiveness" back inline with your standard cyno-kessy. ___________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Yup, 5 minutes stuck in space in a 100M ISK ship isn't fun.

I don't know about dropping the delay to zero, but maybe bringing it down from 5 mins to like 1min might work well.
That said, I also see the need for the delay to be there, as it gives people time to stop the caps from entering... going to 1 minute might make more recons do this, simply because it means there is very little chance their cyno will be stopped before they can jump in.

By proposing this, you'll get all alts in recons since they'll be very hard to kill. So I do agree that a change is needed, but not the closing of a cyno at will. So maybe just decrease the cyno duration to 1 - 1.5 minutes. |

I think making it so it can cyno at will is a bit much, however i think reducing the cyno time to 2 minutes or so would be better.
Additionally I think it could be a good idea to add cyno at will to t3 cruisers. They all ready have the ability to cloak and warp through dictor bubbles, i think the that it would be logical to allow them to drop cynos and deactivate them at will. Would make them 100% worth their value imo. |

What if the time is reduced to 1-2 minutes and you're also able to force it offline. If you force it offline, the cyno/entire rack/ship/something takes damage? |
