Hey,
I'm upgrading to a desktop running on Vista 64-bit with SP1 + pile of updates, and when I install Eve using the downloaded client it gives me an error along the lines of "Checksum was agjk534jkl(loads of numbers and letters) but was expected to be (loads of letters and numbers)"
Using the offline/standalone client install, it starts to extract the files, but right before it finishes it states "Files are corrupt, try downloading a fresh version". I've done that a few times, once after a reboot, once before a reboot, with firewall / all that stuff off etc. It gives the same issue each time.
I still have my 'ole laptop (XP), but I'm wondering if there's anyone else who had this issue/worked around it, because I'd really like to play smoothly with everything cranked up
IMPORTANT:
If your only reply is something along the lines of "Vista sucks", I already know this.

Vista doesn't suck.
Anyway, these issues are most likely caused either by a faulty harddrive of faulty memory. Try running chkdsk for your harddrive (chkdsk /x/f/r C:) and test your memory with memtest (make sure it runs at least an hour or two, faulty ram doesn't always show up on the first pass).
CRC tests test for any corruption in the files. Basicly it compares a known valid "signature" of a file to the file currently on the harddrive. If these don't match, something has changed in the file either during writing or reading. Corrupt files are the root of a lot of evil and can cause all kinds of issues, hence the testing for it.

Thanks for the advice, I've run the commands, but nothing came up. The strange thing is that the first time around I used an older installer that still used Empyrean Age, and it loaded up fine though Of course I couldn't log in due to the new versions. Even using the update instead of a fresh install I get identical error messages, I'm trying some more approaches at the moment.

What is the exact file-name of the installer you are trying to use?

Edited by: Augin Soric on 05/06/2009 16:32:24 The original install I had saved as a backup is EVE_Premium_Setup_64451 (Empyrean Age), and It installed / loaded up fine. Only after updating to the current did it stop.
So far I've used EVE_Premium_Setup_89883 (offline version as well), but i also have one called and EVE_Premium_Setup_84244_m.exe-downloader that i'm going to try in a minute (ran out of time yesterday).
