I have around 25m sp's, can use T2 heavies and Sentries but cannot fit T2 large hybrids yet. Been looking at training for the Kronos as I am getting bored silly flying my Domi. But I also noticed the Vindicator, which I could fly about a week sooner than the Kronos. Both seem nice boats for mission running, and I know that the main point of the Kronos is a mission king, but it can only fit 4 weapons as apposed to 7 on the Vindy.
4 X 100% bonus on the Kronos = 8 turrets. 7 X 25% damage mod = 8.75 turrets
Add to this that the Kronos can only fly a limited range of drones, say 5 meds and have 5 lights in the bay, the Vindy can carry the same but also fit spares or a couple sentries/heavies to add to the overall DPS.
The Kronos can tank more Damage than the Vindy though, but which would you guys consider to be the better Level four mission boat in Minmatar space.
Ohh, and I am aware of the three highslots being for salavaging as you kill on the Kronos, but I would be more likely to use a specialist salvager than do it on the fly.

You're missing the following on the Kronos:
Gallente Battleship Skill Bonus:
* 5% bonus to large hybrid weapon damage per level
Kronos handily outdamages Vindi, uses less ammo to do so, outtanks it, and can salvage and use 40km tractors while killing stuff. |

this conclusion is wrong.
the kronos actually have an effective turret bonus of 4 x 125%. also the MWD bonus on the vindy are completely useless for doing missions.
and unless you use a full set of heavy drones on the vindy the dps will probably be less.

I did infact miss that bonus for some reason, but it would be 125% only at Maruader skill level 5. However it does change the math enough to turn my thoughts to the Kronos. Fitting a full flight of heavies or sentries would be unacceptable as it would leave me open and unable to kill frigs in any reasonable time frame.
Thanks for your imput, Kronos is what I will train for.

Actually its 4 x 100% x 25%. 4 x 125% is incorrect.

Agreed. Vindicator is meant for tackling or something, and if compared, has the exact same bonuses (except for MWD which can't be used in missions) as the Navy Megathron with BS 5. |

You wont regret moving onto the kronos from the Domi, I spent 2 years skilling up all things Domi and was very happy with it, I had 4 T2 rails plus maxed out drone and sentry skills.
Once I started using the kronos I found it so much more efficient at running Lvl 4's. I never went back to the Domi despite 7 mill in drones. 20km tractor range just doesn't cut it anymore.
I am now running lvl V's with it and it easily finishes the hardest missions in less than an hour. Supported of course :) |

Yes, just yes. The Maruader bonus is applied before the hybrid turret bonus. Lets say your doing 25.6 dps per turret (raw dps on an unskilled large Neutron II firing standard antimatter). 25.6 x 100% x 25% is 64 dps. While 25.6 x 125% is only 57.6. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want 11.1% damage missing. C'mon Faith this is easy maths. :) |

The Kronos and Dominix are by far the best Gallente mission ships. Against Angels I usually use a Dominix with blasters, T2 sentries and heavy drones. The close-orbiting Angels are easy to kill with blasters and Heavy drones, and the sentries thin the herd while they approach.
...this doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

The BEST Gallente mission boat in my opinion is the Ishtar, hands down. Fast, great drone bonus, salvage as you go. It's tank is insane as well. I dont bother with my navy mega or my domi hardly at all any more. |
